my goal at the movies is for my parents to take pity on their poor broke student daughter and pay for my ticket+food, which means I've only seen the new marvel moves and sometimes not even them.

I don't know, i've been meh on some marvel movies and many dc movies, but at this point i can't keep up with all the super hero things. I've started to sour on team ups (eyeballs the next hundred years of avengers) because i dont care about the direction that character went. with comics i can just skip that arch and come back later, but the movies aren't as forgiving.

I think DC movies would have been doing really well 10-15 years ago when all the super hero movies were dark and gritty, because a lot of the time they do gritty well, but if i'm going to spend a fortune on movie going, i want to actually enjoy the movie which is hard if you cant see the screen cause everything is dark as hell dc dark and gritty doesnt mean you cant show us the characters

I.. am starting to realize, maybe, that the definitive line between DC and Marvel sales has to do with humor. At least for the time being in this current generation of comic book movies.

Their universes are like night and day - While Tony Stark can have a martini in the face of a villian and the two brag about whose dick is bigger; Superman has his hands tied with the last known relatable person of his homeworld having to be done in to save people...

Dark and gritty realities appeal to some but, while the majority of people like to live in the day, DC movies are going to have to at least re-work their main characters and their exchanges within the universe.

I don't hate you Jon, I do have very low expectations for any DC film since BvS. I prefer movies that I can sit and laugh and enjoy, thus I like Marvel films more. That's just my opinion on what a movie should be to me, fun and enjoyable. These melodrama movies that feel so serious and are so dark are honestly boring to me. However I will be going to see Justice League over this coming weekend purely because the word of mouth I've been hearing.
