Hackers Hold Hollywood HOSTAGE

Entertainment News: Hackers Hold Hollywood HOSTAGE

Hacker(s) have got early copies of dozens of TV shows and are threatening to release them if networks don't pay ransom. Netflix is already feeling the heat over 10 leaked episodes of Orange is the New Black... just when you thought it was safe with the writer's strike averted.

This really isn't as big of a deal as it seems. The vast majority of the people that would watch the stuff that the hacker distributes are the kind of people who were likely to pirate it to begin with. The film makers/distributes should just suck it up, carry on as usual, take the VERY minor loss in revenue that this will result in, and update their security so that it doesn't happen again. All "giving into the hackers demands" would do is set a bad precedent for the future.

P.S. The term you want it crackers, not hackers... but don't let that bother you and the rest of the non-IT media... *sigh*

At this point in my life, I wouldn't trust any torrent site. I would just ignore their ransom demands and continue as usual.
