Never bothered with watching Iron Fist, but the problem wasn't with the initial casting, it was how the director reacted: bluntly racist garbage in which he openly acknowledged he didn't give too much care about people's feelings on it, which, yeah, I get. The loud outcry of "you hurt my feelings and you're wrong for it" can be threatening or whatever, but his attitude towards it was why people reacted the way they did. You can't be that insensitive and then blame the people hurt by it, completely ignore that yeah, race stuff does exist, it does affect people, and casting outside of White As The Default isn't going to hurt white people's feelings as much as it kind of sucks to not have barely any box office non-white superheros. Same with the women's only screenings of Wonder Woman. It isn't as though men are banned and barred from seeing the film itself, missing out on one specific screening of a movie isn't suddenly a new form of sexism. Like... just let them have literally one thing. One thing. Y'all already have the rest.

I will say congrats on Ashley for finishing Iron Fist. I still haven't picked it back up since its release. I'm like past the half-way mark, but compared to the other Defender series, it just didn't hold my attention. It's not helped by the fact that as a Netflix series, meaning on-demand, I can keep putting it off.

A few months ago Kathleen Kennedy said they would only have men direct Star Wars until a female director proved herself with an action movie. Here's hoping. Not just for Star Wars, but for female nerds everywhere to prove themselves in the action movie environment as well as the film industry as a whole

I feel like we might have another Ghostbusters remake on our hands. Honestly it shouldn't matter who makes just how good it is

In what way are the two films comparable? One was criticized since its inception. The other has been hopefully, skeptically praised and is so far exceeding expectations. One is the third in a franchise, the other features a character that basically hasn't ever starred in a movie and only had cameos or small parts before that.

A lot of critics who said ghostbusters was good mainly did it because of the feminist message, it didn't see to matter how the movie was, once it released people started to give poor reviews and speak poorly about it they were label as sexist. I feel that this could turn out the same where if the public does not again they could be labeled falsely simply because the meaning behind the movie and had a female crew. It could also suffer from the same thing they did in BvS where it seemed like wonder woman was invincible, removing suspense. This could easily be very good and well received or hated, but I feel that either way those who dislike it will be labeled as sexist just like with ghostbusters

Its crazy to think that Wonder Woman has been around for 75 years and this is her first theatrical release.

I hope Wonder Woman is as good as they are saying.
