I was pleased when I read the title, then sad as soon as the video started. I've been there with young suicide in the family, shit's awful.

I don't have kids, but that's got to be one of the most brutal things a person can experience. Can't believe he actually tried to keep going with the movie for a while

I get Snyder wanting to step aside, but if you're Whedon why in the world do you say yes to the gig?

If the movie works out (it won't) then he was only barely involved and won't really get anything out of it,and when the movie ineviably is another DC cinematic universe disaster (I actually somewhat enjoyed MoS & Bvs as dumb fun but they're not what audiences want nor going to hype you up for the next movie) he's still going to ruin any chance he's had at being accepted by DC fans who will blame him for the movie sucking, regardless of how little his involvement was, and knowing movie studios the idiots will probably use it as a way to justify steping in and making changes to batgirl as "you saw what happened when we let Whedon do his thing unhindered"

i disagree, i think that a director like Joss has the ability to add nuances and have a much bigger effect on the movie than you might expect.bad writing is bad writing. good actors can only preform to the bad writing to a certain degree. when you have a great director( not that Snyder isn't) and someone who has had success in the genera before i think there will be a good amount of surprises in store.

Nothing, no film, matters but Zack & Family's tragedy. Hope the best for them.

The dark and gritty tone of Batman v Superman did not make that film any worse or better. It's a stylistic choice, not a measure of quality.

The problem with BvS was an atrocious script, something that should be directly blamed on the writer (David Goyer), rather than the director. Zach Snyder made a really good (also dark and gritty) superhero movie from the Watchmen comic, because he had a good script, and is a talented director. BvS could have been just as good, while remaining as dark and gritty as it wants to be.

And honestly, I'm kind of sick of light-hearted zero-consequence action-comedy in MCU films. Let's hope Joss Whedon doesn't marvelize JL.

i fully agree, bad writing is bad writing and its not even something that can be full realized until after production. something, somewhere was lost in translation and if feels rushed in places it shouldn't and drags in places it doesn't need to. DC didn't take its time to develop the stories it wanted to tell with the same finesse marvel took.

Wow. Nothing but condolences over here.

As far as Joss taking over, let's go back to the first Avengers. Everyone said he would do the movie franchise an injustice. But now look at it. It's fantastic and everyone gave him high praise when he pulled it off.

In my opinion I think that Whedon will kind of steer away from what Snyder did as far as setting up the EU just a little bit for staying true to some of the source material. That being said he is an amazing choice for a replacement.

Whedon had a career as a script doctor at one point and his amazing experience with Avengers makes him the perfect person to finish JL Snyder's way. That being said, I cannot imagine what he's going through. My prayers go out to his entire family

I can't even image what the Snyder family must be going though. I'm deeply sorry for their loss and I'm also said to see him step down from JL but fully believe in putting family over work.

Good. No "darkness induced audience apathy" will happen.

I made this comment BEFORE watching the video. Now that I finally got around to it, I send my condolences. I hope that there will be some time before he gets back in the movie work.
