Almir (Overkill CEO) talked to the mods. Video can be found here: http://www.twitch.tv/jamesblack47/v/26430369

He promises changes and the Mods did a good job asking questions and keeping Almir on track.

I don't feel this is as huge an issue as everyone is making it seem. It's a PvE team based game so any one who has a stat boosted weapon is just helping the team. Only some skins come with stat boosts, too. The huge majority of skins are just cosmetic. And payday 2 has been out for a few years and is on game update 90 and just finished a few special events, Halloween and crimefest, so I have no problems paying for DLCs that fairly priced in order to help the devs keep supporting the game.

The Payday 2 community from what I've seen are just a bunch of entitled jackasses anyway who don't realize how much desync can fuck with people and immediately kick them or leave as host. And when they don't host they play stupidly then say the other people are retarded and leave. Most of them have absolutely no logic, and those are the ones bitching about something that's nowhere near p2w in a co-op game. And they only reason they are is because "there'll never be micro-transactions."

i'm probably going to get alot of flack for saying this, but im going to say it anyways!)

I get that the studios have done a great job of keeping the game relevant, and have provided the community with a lot to do.

But one of the things that the Payday 2 developers used to pride on was how much the community loved them and how much they loved the community. As with their changing of business models to try and earn some money to continue adding stuff to the game, they have done moves (such as FBI files without consulting Payday 2 Stats that just don't sit right :|
Although it personally doesn't sit right with me, its interesting to see my ideas are also shared with the mods... They should have at least tried to be a little more friendly to the community since it was so key in getting them where they are today.

TLDR: i get that its still a business, but at least try to cover it up a little bit!

The real issue here is almost all about how Overkill advertised themselves leading up to these events and how they're mixing monetization methods. There was promise of never adding microtransactions to the game and the microtransactions were added as part of a community event where the community's support would unlock FREE content. A feeling of betrayal can easily lead to players feeling exponentially more negative about an already obviously greedy move. What's more, other games with similar loot systems went free to play BEFORE adding in microtransactions such as this (TF2 & CS:GO) and rewarded their original customers for their loyalty. Overkill is triple dipping now by charging for a base game, offering an expansive amount of DLC and now these microtransactions; which, by the way, can drop skins for guns that are locked behind DLC. Honestly the real issue isn't over the stats boosts, it's just over the broken promises and how they blindsided the fans who had bought in before these additions. If the skins were available through DLC, rather than a random chance via microtransactions, there wouldn't be an uproar.

Payday 2 isn't a multiplayer shooter, it's a co-op shooter, so people buying stuff if they know what they're getting and it's not affecting anyone else is fine. That being said, Overkill seem to have deliberately held back details so they can rake in the cash and then give nothing back.

They're essentially pirates. Just without cool hats or accents...

    ...or really bad eggs.

honestly, I'm glad the mods decided to do this. With their constant DLCs for heists, characters, and now weapons (with random drops... at least make them guaranteed if they're gonna pay for it!), it makes me as a player, who isn't willing to spend the money, feel devalued and ultimately worthless in game. Its sad knowing that without dropping more money I'm not even able to play the core game that i bought and have fun with it.
