I will take the Mass Effect games over Assassin's Creed every day. I liked the original AC, but never stuck with the IP.

Really misleading title. For those who don't understand EA is not actually making an Assassins creed game. just a game that has the same combat style as Assassins creed.

I'm hoping it's the visceral game.

Why can't EA be original and make a game of their own ideas? Why just copy and buy sucsessfull games? I don't get much of EA's marketing logic.

It's not copying. That's like saying Halo copied Call of Duty because it's a FPS.

EA's just saying they realize they haven't really done anything in this genre, which is one of, if not, the biggest genres on the market. It'd take an idiot not to do what EA's doing.

As for the buying, here's the thing: they are a publishing company. Like Activision, 2K, and Ubisoft, they publish games made by other developers. That's not to say they don't develop their own games, like Ubisoft, but they also publish them. A studio like Hello Games (No Man's Sky) is just a developer, so they'll only make their own games. (Side note: They're self publishing, but that does not make them a publisher. That'd be like painting a bird in 2nd grade and calling yourself Monet)
