this will be the gateway for the average audience because if you think about it Samsung headset is easy to use and will get a lot of casuals in the market, some will get hooked and upgrade to what they think the better system is.

All these negative nancy's running around.

There is going to be a niche for VR. It won't take over and be the status quo in gaming, but there are certainly games where it will make sense. A lot of these episodic exploration games, perfect. Anything space based is going to be spectacular if executed well. It is funny how people are claiming click bait when the story is based on industry forecasting. They are not always right, but if the numbers are true, then ya, VR would be considered a hit.

The thing that the numbers do not really show are all the different avenues for VR. The samsung VR is cheap, and powered by a phone. It will likely make up a large portion of the market, and then Apple will copy them and send the numbers through the roof. I am a little hesitant on the PC front because you have multiple competing headsets, and all but the oculus have agreed on a standard for resolution and format. If Star Citizen actually gets released and doesn't suck, I will be investing in an Oculus.

No.. It'll repeat the Wii trend. Very popular for a year or two and then sudden drop off. I'm surprised RT even posted a video like this.. Obviously click bait. That's the knows noob generator. Every YouTube channel has to have one to generate more viewers. You would do it to if you owned a business based on views(To comment below). Burnie, Gus, Geoff, and Gavin already knew the future trend of VR; this video was a product of someone else in combo writing/marketing.

EDIT: I got - points for explaining to someone why/how click bait works and predicting a trend.. Interesting.

Ok. That's it. I'm done. Sorry guys. I've tried to stick with The Know. I found it really interesting and insightful back in the day, good tech news in bite-sized chunks.

Seeing it steadily descend into clickbait has been really sad for me. I just can't bring myself to keep watching them. Repeating a cheerleading games industry press release about projected adoption rates as the centerpiece for a story?

Betteridge's Law of Headlines was meant to be an admonishment to journalists, not an instruction.

Stress level Zero is actually developing a VR-only game that looks bloody freakin' awesome. If all VR-games were like that, I could definitely see VR being a thing

Actually, i saw a couple of samsung representatives showing off the VR headsets to random students walking by... I mean its still fairly early on to know if VR will take over, but at least its nice to see that they're serious about it!

Not as quickly as Superdata projects, but yes, yes it will. Meg, VR is ONLY good for horror? Shame on you for your short sightedness.

VR gaming may or may not take off, but I'm actually more excited for other VR software like animation, 3D modelling, and music. Could be some really cool stuff there.

Am I the only one who thinks VR is missing a huge market right now in driving games? I mean, seriously. Is it not the dream of many to drive a super car? Plus, with today's technology, it is the only genre that you could get to an almost perfect immersive experience. Get a Vive, some Bose, a mock racing chair, and a full-blown pedal and steering peripheral.

Its already possible with Elite Dangerous. Just in space without the cars.

While Gear is more expensive, I'm not going to hold a cardboard up to my face for extended periods of time. I'm not going to buy either, but still
