No, no, don't work on that nudity content, there's a limit to how many sausages one can take on screen.

To be fair we do have an enormous problem with domestic violence in Australia. I know of two people who i'm good friends with who have suffered from an abusive partner. So with this in mind I can understand why my government has taken this decision.

And besides that people will likely pirate it from the internet anyway.

It's so extreme the ESRB had to rate it JO for JESUS ONLY!

Small Correction: Jason Clare was not the Australian Prime Minster, he was Minister for Justice, Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Defence Material (Home Affairs probably being the relevant portfolio for this story). MP stands for Member of Parliament.

Though I have little interest in the Outlast franchise, I will say that our Classification board is such a pain with their irksome mother-henning. How precisely how they remain an entity using their outdated methods is, much like the CEO of the NBN's statement "Australia doesn't need fast internet", quite baffling.

There should never be a censoring of the media in a way that the uncensored version is not available to the consumers who are legally allowed to make choices of what they can and can't see. If you are considered an adult capable of making decisions, you should be allowed to make said decisions. If there is sufficient warning on the product, then there is nothing wrong with the people who choose to ignore those warnings being exposed to it. What this is an equivalent to, is if rather than putting the warning label on a cup of hot coffee, you refuse to allow coffee to be sold because someone might get burned even after reading the warning label that says it's hot......

Sorry to hear about that for those in Australia.

Personally, I think it should be up to the consumer whether if they should play the game or not.  Isn't that what the rating systems are for like the ESRB.  To tell consumers what is in the game before playing it that people might not agree with.  If people don't agree with it than don't buy it.  Taking away personal responsibility and having a government body doing it is never good.  Personal responsibility comes with growing up and being a functional adult.

We have known for years that violent video games do not lead to violence, are going to have to do to the same for sexual content in video game isn't bad either?

I wonder, will gifting games to your friends in Australia through say Steam or using Steam sharing get pass the ban?

Urgh, living in Australia it is so frustrating to see this bullshit all the time. Get those old fogies out of the classification board. Bunch of fucking pussies. They can't complain about games torrenting if you are going to take away our choice what we can or can't watch as adults.

It's kind of stupid that they bring in an R18+ rating and then ban a game that has some sexual violent scenes. Basically implying that adults over the age of 18 are incapable of making their own decisions about what they are and aren't offended by.

Whats does guns have to do with it? And it only a couple of games and their reasons are understandable. It's like me saying all Americans over exaggerate.

...but i am a "super adult."
I am so glad that the conservatives in Texas has not passed similar laws against video games.

      What an amazing coincidence.

I am glad the NannyState blue voters in Texas didnt ban video games that offend people.

It aint reds in America that ban topics of discussions in college Safe Spaces,

      its the blues doing that.

Those blues dont want anyone to hear or see anything that might upset them.

Why cant we sell beer or trucks at certain times in Texas?

The reason is literally called Blue Laws, not Red Laws.

Go online to HEB, and see if you can order some Texas primo pick Borracho Beans.  Sure you can, unless you live in Kalifornioa.  The blue nannystate voters in Cal even banned a can of beans HEB can ship all other 49 states.

Blues even censor a can of beans, if you give them a chance.
