For Honor's New Content RIP-OFF?

Game News: For Honor's New Content RIP-OFF?

For Honor has introduced some cheeky, fun, totally optional new cosmetic emotes for characters. Sounds good so far, right? Here's the catch: you can either shell out real money or plan on spending the next few years grinding to get them. That's pretty reminiscent of the Free to Play model except... For Honor costs $60!

I don't really mind micro transactions in games too much, like you said destiny and overwatch have micro transactions as well. But with for honor it feels like they are ripping us off a bit, what with steel being used for EVERYTHING from the gear upgrades to the cosmetics.  In addition, the game still has several glaring issues with their P2P networking, causing whole games to drop.  So pushing these cosmetic prices, in addition to seemingly not having a good handle on the game's problems just creates one big jumbled mess of negativity.  Plus those emotes were already in game as I could see the bots using them.

it would not be pay to win if the purchased currency could not be used to upgrade/unlock armor/weapon with higher stats/levels, which it does so yeah it's ptw that's the problem not high priced cosmetics.

    Ubishit strikes again!!!!!

Also, the fact that this kind of garbage is now considered "normal" now a days is utterly disappointing. Soon, mobile game tactics will be in these $60 games and they'll be "normal"!!!

I think micro-transactions in a full retail game are crappy but I'm not going to rage against it, it just makes me care less about collecting all the things that I refuse to buy. The real issues I have with the game are the boring and monotonous orders, the slight pay-to-win element, and the connection issues. I loved For Honor at first but within a couple of weeks it became more annoying than fun.

why does Ubisoft hate dedicated servers? Did you not learn from the division at all?

The problem here isn't the lack of dedicated servers, but Ubisoft's implementation of their netcode, in other words poor networking.

Peer-to-peer multiplayer can work really well when the number of players is relatively small, just take a look at Warframe, a very successful game that doesn't suffer from a lack of dedicated servers. And it came out in 2013.

I actually explained this to someone on Reddit some time ago, and it turned out they also played Warframe and didn't even notice that players hosted game sessions. (note: as of now, only player hubs, practically a sort of space stations, are hosted on dedicated servers)

well the key difference here is its a lot easier to hide lag/bad connection in PVE game modes as an avid warframe player i can tell you it has serious issues with PVP lag and struggles with the larger player PVE modes (raids). For a PVP game focused game like for honor where timing is everything i really don't understand how they thought P2P was a good idea. Its the same reason the Destiny PVP sucks i can play one game being top of the score board next game with same people i'm at the bottom when i'm playing the exact same.

Nah, cosmetics are where micro-transactions belong. This is silly. It sounds like the in-game method of attaining loot may be a bit excessively time-consuming, but it's not overtly "wrong". At most, it could be frowned upon.

QQ some more, reddit. No one's forcing you to spend money or time on PURELY COSMETIC items.

And for the love of god, it's not pay to win... It might have some undertones, but considering how easy it is to max out your gear, I have no sympathy for you.

Reddit blowing things out of proportion again, I see. Let's not complain about the balance issues or the purely defensive meta. Instead let's bitch about emotes. Lol.

7k steel wouldn't take more than a couple weeks to get for the average player completing the contracts. Not only that, but the emotes are in tiers. 3k, 5k, and 7k. What the fuck is the problem? Not only that, but hardly anyone plays all of the characters. Most stick to just one or two.

It's just a joke, really, how mad these kids get about dumb things.
