Care needs to be taken. Money+addiction can be applied to many, many things including food addictions and non-lootbox gaming addictions - both real things.

While I loathe the lootbox practice as it comes across as excessively predatory to me, it's not as cut-and-dry as money+addiction. I would say money+addiction+chance is more accurate in this case. The concept that a real-world monetary reward is required (such as ruled in the UK) is a bit short-sighted or just not understanding gambling addictions. In fact, in-game-only rewards have value and, in several cases, a measurable real-world monetary value. It sounds like someone is making decisions who doesn't play games to understand how important these rewards are to people. (I don't understand it completely, but the evidence is that it exists even if I don't understand it.)

This toe-the-gambling-line game that EA is playing needs to blow up in their face to make the industry take a step back and rethink this (predatory) avenue of continuous revenue.

Why is this only just showing up, here? Wasn't this up like a week ago on YouTube?

Nothing was posted here over the Thanksgiving holiday. It went up on YouTube on schedule just before the holiday. That said, the lawsuit on a 14-year old was here many hours before it hit YouTube. It goes back and forth, but there was the holiday that threw a wrench in the works this time.
