Fifa and madden never lock content behind micro-transactions EXCEPT for legend cards, players that have retired that get special cards. Every current player and team with every major arena, kit, and even the balls you can use in-game you don't have to pay anything for in any other game mode. The schism comes in for the ultimate team game mode where you make your own team using cards you pull from packs. What I think is interesting about people bitching and complaining about micro transactions and specifically in these sports games is, back in the day they did the same exact fucking thing with yugi-oh, pokemon cards, baseball/football cards etc. People spent tons of money on useless shiny pieces of paper.... just to collect them? I've never even met someone that knows how to play yugi-oh or pokemon but I also never met someone that didn't want pokemon cards. Even though fifa and madden packs suck, people buy them because they play the game nonstop year round and the game gets so many hours of peoples lives they don't feel cheated by spending more money to play with their favorite players online. And that's the beauty of it as well, you can get great players and progress and just get better at the game and dominate people with cheap players you never had to spend real money to get. There are a lot of people also forgetting it's the only video game for the entire world's preferred sport  so no wonder it makes almost a billion dollars just on micro-transactions lol (sorry pes but you're shit)

Good to see SA folks back into the gaming news biz! thumbsup

Bad to see EA moving ahead with their subscription services. thumbsdown

I think they looked at their Sims 3. From the day of release of the base game to the day of the final expansion at the original prices of all expansions and packs at their releases, it comes to ~$15 a month. They could have released Sims 3 as a subscription service at $15 a month and made more money than letting people pick the expansions and packs that they wanted.
