If developers sell their game cheaper off-Steam but using a Steam key they are basically screwing with Valve's revenue stream. Valve has to provide all the services (downloads, community, etc.) for free, because they didn't get a cut from the sales. They have every right to fight that. If devs want to sell games off-steam they should not sell Steam keys.

A private company setting their own terms on their own services? *facetious gasp* Steam is a business. They're going to act like one when they feel it is necessary to protect themselves.

Trying to get your people to play your game is similar to trying to break into the entertainment industry. Unless you have an "in", it's 90% luck. (Talent is assumed and quickly axed if not present.)

Seems overblown. All they said was that if your request for keys went beyond a normal amount they'ed have to look into what you were doing.
