Steam's WAR on Unfair Review Bombs

Game News: Steam's WAR on Unfair Review Bombs

Steam's had a rough time with angry gamers review bombing games on the platform. Sometimes it has to do with the game itself. Sometimes it's done to "send a message" to a developer, mafia style. And Valve's not taking it anymore.

Valve gets a thumbs up from me.  I have a majority of steam titles purchased thanks in part to Steam's reviewing system and their sales.    This is a good move that could address the positives and or inconsistencies found in much lauded, indie and early access titles   It's good that they've maintained the ability to bypass all the "product received for free",funny/gibberish ones and discover the recommended ones that interest me.  And the chart isn't too complicated to understand.   thumbsup

    TLDR;  thumbsup thumbsup

I am honestly impressed that a big company making money hand over fist in the way that Valve are took such a carefully deliberated and considered decision over this and found such a beautiful compromise of a decision - I'm not saying there are not better solutions but it's a pretty good first stab that also gives gamers more information to work with for their purchasing decisions, something that I think quite a few gamers have been wanting for quite some time (since it will now be easier to spot some of the scams as well :)

Review bombs were hiding behind summarized information and arduous review reviewing. Let people see granular data more easily. Makes sense.

This is actually a very wise compromise.
