I'd not put a lotta bunk in Dave's rumor milling. In general he's had a lot wrong involving the switch and after his last source being pulled out like a dandelion I doubt any source wants to feed him info.

If anything, Retro making one could have something to it, but my skepticism from the last two games has me at a general level of "dubious".

Saying it's "beyond silly" is such an overreaction that I almost think it's true. Could be another thing like 343 saying they're not working on Halo 2 Anniversary because they outsourced it to another studio while they were just generally managing the Master Chief Collection, or the inverse when The Coalition said they're not making "The Marcus Fenix Collection" when they were in fact making Gears of War: Ultimate Edition which included non-remastered versions of the other three games.

What I'm saying is, they can say they're not working on that Metroid game just because one detail is a little off.

I could believe that they would make two Metroid games at the same time. They`ve done it before with Metroid Prime and Metroid Fusion coming out the same day as each other. (2002 was an excellent christmas.)

I bet one is an HD remake of the old games just for switch and the other is a whole new game in the series also just for switch. Im sure Nintendo would like to get as many people as possible on their new console during the Christmas cycle and a new game and an HD remake seem like great ways to do it.
