I honestly don't care what is going on in the way of other consoles, I just need to know what games are coming out and when I can buy them.

Is it just me, or does reporting on the assumed narrative of how much these companies are "competing" with each other on every little thing seem... excessive? There's always some story about how one console is being "beaten" by another and "has to" catch up or else they'll... what? "lose" and then stop existing? This is silly.

Don't get me wrong, there are things worth comparing sometimes, and these businesses do pay attention to these comparisons, but I'm not convinced that they actually care about a lot of these things as much as these reports imply. But I suppose these kinds of ideas make for better stories to catch views....

Yes yes you're exactly right. If a console "loses," things stop existing. It causes things like features, support, and development to halt. Xbox One is "losing" and we feel the effects of that in Microsoft's inability to supply exclusive titles, early releases, >.> good servers.

And what happens when a console really loses? Well, take a look at the Wii U (it's not a Wii periphery, for those of you who forgot). Only a year older than ps4 and xbox one and Nintendo has already stated that they are no longer developing games for it. Not to mention all the wasted money and hurt feelings for those of us who bought it and now really have to buy the Switch.

Media coverage is nice, but for me it is usually all about the games when I decide to purchase a console.  For this generation I had to think about the how easy the console is to use, UI of the console and the annoyances I would have to face when playing on the console.

If I don't like any of the consoles I could always run the master race if needed.
