im so glad that prey is going well bc ive loved arkane studios for a while. dishonored 2 was a great game, but mostly ignored after it launched even tho they fixed the graphic errors and fps issue pretty quickly for pc.

all their games have great attention to detail, creative and free-form exploring and playing, and lore while maintaining solid gameplay that can continue without ever reading anything. dishonored was the same way where there were little details and subtle morality based endings that only got better with the second dishonored game. ur rewarded for being interested in the world and exploring, but if you wanna go in and slaughter everyone instead, u definitely can.

The X being cancel and O being confirm is a Japanese thing, not a "old game" thing.  Before Final Fantasy XV came out I got the Japanese demo off the Japanese Playstation store, and they still used that system.

Makes sense. Circle in Japanese is for yes, X is for no. It's used commonly enough to where saying X (batsu) is kind of like saying "wrong" in english.

As a high school and college student when I couldn't afford games, I used pirating as a way to demo games before buying them since developers suddenly stopped producing demos. Assuming I spent a couple hours enjoying the game, I'd buy it.

Now that I can afford a bad game or two on occasion I don't bother, but without a way to try a game first I think pirating it works fine.

im a broke ass college student and i dont wanna shell out 60 bucks for a triple-a title from a company that can more than afford it. i dont like pirating indie games, bc the creators dont have the financial backing that AAA games do and indie games tend to be shorter anyways

I'm someone who watches RT content for the shows and comedy more than gaming, so wanted to say that I find this show interesting despite that. It's cool to listen to you guys engage even if I typically don't know what you're talking about. If anything it makes me want to play games so I can try to understand.

Late comment (Slowly making my way through last week's podcasts) but I'm so glad Mica mentioned her dad playing video games, and it sort of means so much more knowing he's such an advocate for video games being considered a valid art form and narrative conduit. I feel like his voice is more important to the debate than anyone else.

I really appreciate that modder for fixing Tales of Symphonia for me. If it wasn't for him I would of lost out on the money I paid for the game.

Although, it's not his job to police the internet and malware is malware. He should of informed people it would only work on legit games and that it will delete files on their computer if the mod detected anything hanky.

That elf dude can obviously do what he wants, his body his life, but fuck the trans-species thing. Don't pretend to compare yourself to trasngender people.
Gender Dysphoria is a documented medical condition with a rooting in scientific understanding, (ntm being present in cultures across the globe for thousands of years), it exists in an objective and scientific sense, and more often than not results in dysphoria which can be extremely difficult for trans people.
If you want to look like an elf then you do you, your body your choice, you should be free to live your life however you please. But that's not the same thing as being transgender and you shouldn't equate the two, it's insulting to what trans people go through and it is just categorically inaccurate.

    • peckpogydah Peckpogydah

I just read up on Gender Dysphoria and I don't see why he can't be going threw the same struggle as people with Gender Dysphoria.

As a side note, it really bothers me that Gender Dysphoria is a medical condition that people are trying to fix. I mean years ago me being gay was considered a medical condition people tried to fix, now it's accepted to be perfectly healthy.

    • cantab1611 FIRST Member Star(s) Indication of membership status - One star is a FIRST member, two stars is Double Gold

It's not attempting to fix it, i'm transgender myself. Being trans is a literal medical condition, during the fetal stage of development called the hormone shower, if the brain receives a different hormone dosage than the body a disparity forms resulting in dysphoria (we don't know what causes this yet) It's quite literally have the brain of one gender in the body of the other sex.
It's not about trying to "fix it", its about treating the quite distressing symptoms. The treatment is transition, HRT and surgery etc. What specific treatment is individual depending on the person and the degree of their dysphoria/what they feel they need to make them comfortable (if they need treatment atall, not everyone does).
When i say it's a medical condition, i mean it in an objective sense. I'm transgender myself, i mean no negative connotation with that, but unless that individual somehow developed the brain of a mythological creature during fetal development, it's not the same thing
And your homosexuality comparison is the definition of false equivalence. There was never any objective reasoning or evidence for homosexuality being an illness, that was prejudice from unprofessional doctors. When legitimate research was performed on the subject it showed otherwise.
Gender dysphoria as a condition has a basis of research, and the suggested treatment is helping the person not torturing them and "curing" them as it was with homosexuality. It's not the same thing

It's a shame that Bioware has already used Mass Effect Redemption.  It's a Dark Horse comic set just after the opening of Mass Effect 2 where Liara rescues Shepard's corpse and gives it to Cerberus.  It also feeds in to the Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC.

Mailbag is by far my favorite segment. That being said I'm not really fan of segments on podcasts because I prefer free-flowing conversation. Segmentation of a show sometimes makes it feel like things are being rushed and not fully explored or explored more than necessary. I do understand why the change to segments but it's just not for me. I watch because of the hosts and not so much for the content.

News is tricky thing because unless I'm interested in said news I tend to ignore it. It's the reason why I don't usually watch videos for news and instead read articles so I can skim.

I agree that the start of prey is quite difficult and encourages a much stealthier approach (and is therefore much more tense, similar to survival horror with very limited ammo and overpowering enemies) but the further you get into prey it gets a lot easier and becomes more like Dead Space or bioshock. There are so many weapons and typhon powers at your disposal that you are kind of spoilt for choice for how to kill phantoms and mimics etc. (which is fun in and of itself) and with fabrication plans you can just keep crafting more ammo, medkits etc. so you don't worry about running out of supplies anymore  smile

I'm really enjoying Glitch Please. I really enjoy the mailbag segment, but it would be cool to cover a lot of comments/mail in a post show situation. Kind of like Dude Soup's post show. That way you can focus more structurally on the main show. Just a thought, if there is plans for a post show (possibly called Deja Vu, as in a glitch in the Matrix, because you're seeing the same people again).

As far as remasters/re-imaginings go, I would like one for Secret of Mana. Yes, this is a lot of nostalgia, and yes there have been other Mana games. But, somehow none of the sequels managed to get it quite like Secret of Mana. Just imagine a drop in, co-op, hack and slash RPG. When your friends leave, they're still computer players (though, obviously wont be quite as competent). It can even be isometric 3D. It would be perfect for Switch, where you could play online, same screen, or with multiple Switches locally.

I really appreciate the slightly more structured feel to this over The Patch, and that you include timestamps to chunks of discussion in the description. Seeing as this isn't meant to be a 'funny' podcast like the RT Podcast or Off Topic, the topics of discussion carry much more weight for me.

I'll watch the full RT Podcast even if they're discussing something I don't care much about because it's entertaining to listen to them argue. Seeing as this show doesn't (and shouldn't) dissolve to funny bickering it's really nice to be able to see what an episode is about, and be able to easily skip a segment if I'm just not interested in that particular topic.

Can I just say, I wish this came out on Wednesdays like The Patch did. RWBY, RvB, On the Spot, Off Topic, Fanservice, basically every single podcast comes out on the weekend aside from the RT Podcast on Tuesday. As someone who listens to these at work, it was nice to have a podcast basically every day instead of working my way through a queue throughout the week. Just my opinion based on my viewing habits.

The schedule when it launches will be FIRST on Friday, public on Saturday. Not trying to overwhelm you at all, but we wanted to find a spot in The Know's release schedule where a longer video like a podcast would have room to breathe, so public Saturday makes sense for that since it wouldn't have to share days with news updates.

Mass Effect had three games to develop its characters. It's completely unfair to say Andromeda doesn't match it in one game. Consider how well-developed Javik and James were at the end of ME3. Now look at Jaal, Vetra, and Peebee's development. I think that, bugs and inevitably unresolved cliffhangers aside, it WAS a great game and had everything good about the originals in it, carried-over saves aside.

Glad Obduction finally got a shout-out.  I helped Kickstart this back when it was announced (for quite a decent chunk of change) because I grew up on Myst and Riven, so helping the studio out was a no-brainer.  HOWEVER- my PC can't run it, so I'm waiting to actually play it until I can afford a new PC.

As far as classic franchises that need a reboot-

Half Life 2 is 13 years old.

    Just sayin'.

To add to my point about Half Life (since finishing the entire podcast/episode), I agree that whatever/IF ever it gets made, it will not live up to expectations.  Personally, I didn't play Half Life because it was the greatest shooter ever.  I played for the story and the art direction.  The lack of HL:3 is not maddening because I'm missing a potentially great game- it's maddening because HL2:Ep2 ended on probably THE BIGGEST CLIFFHANGER OF ANY GAME EVER.

Heck, you can release HL:3 as a novel for all I care.  I just want to know how this story ends!

That being said, Valve is probably in the best position to make whatever HL:3 could be.  It's going to lose money regardless.  The fact Valve can make that money up via Steam means they may be in a better position than most to make a game that's got that much built-in headwind.  At this point, though, the best hope for a Half Life conclusion is for the mod community to build one from scratch, and Valve to just put it's stamp of approval on it once it's finished.....

I love this show, but other than a table how is this different from the patch? I know they have Mica instead of Meg, but she's kinda filling the same roll. She's a hot, does cosplay, is awesomely blunt with her opinions, tends to know what shes talking about 60-70% of the time like the rest of the cast, and shamelessly flirts with Ryan. I'm not kidding on that last part. go back and watch everything that has her and Ryan in it.

I think the idea is to keep the idea of a gaming podcast, but reintroduce some structure.  Some of the later episodes of the Patch had broad talking points, but very easily the hour would be filled with discussion on only one thing because the hosts really got into what was being talked about.

I like this so far.  I loved the idea of a podcast analyzing video games, and I think the biggest thing to nail down right now (which they seem to be doing) is finding the best ratio of structured content vs. free-form discussion.

Yeah great episode. I definitely think you guys found the perfect format. Great Length so it didnt feel rushed and all the topics were great and intriguing. So for me the ive always been a PC gamer so im lucky because most of the series that i would love a remake have gotten one OR are getting one. Unreal tournament, doom, Wolfenstein. All games an 8 year should not be playing i guess i was playing and having a ball. Starcraft i dont want a remake technically but an HD remake would be great and yay they are making one. The series though that absolutely grabbed me was Command and Conquer red alert. ive always been a history guy even as a kid and the way they redid history absolutely grabbed me. Command and conquer prepped me for the basically the combined 17 years of Starcraft /BW/SC2 ive played. Command and conquer would remake would be fantastic. When i found a legacy box a with all their classic games up to Generals i was SOOO HAPPY. So yeah I definitely think all the times in the arcade, doom, starcraft were great for getting me into gaming/keeping me in it BUT the Command and Conquer Series is definitely what pulled me into the fold for keeps.

As someone who already loved The Patch, regardless of its looser structure, I'm just glad to see a return of the RT gaming podcast in any form! That being said, you guys have done a great job sussing out a formula for Glitch Please that still allows for organic conversation (a la The Patch) without having the show go too far off the rails. It's a nice balance!

Ashley continues to be a fantastic host (as always), and I'm thrilled to see Mica this week!

The only thing that could make me even happier with how this show is shaping up is if we got to see Meg's face around here every once in a while (though I'm not sure that's possible for you guys to swing, legally speaking, so I'd understand if that's not an option).

Regardless, keep up the good work! <3

I really liked this episode. It flowed well. The mailbag segment leads to natural conversation which I like. Not to be rude but other segments in previous episodes felt very static and it seemed like people couldn't say all what they wanted to say on the topic.
Unrelated to the actual production but there is one thing I want to say about the conversation at the end.
The Witcher 3 was the first RPG I played where I actually felt like I was role-playing for once.
Like instead playing a "Medieval hero" version of myself with my opinions and biases I actually was thinking of what would Geralt do in this situation.
Like in Skyrim I feel like I am the player but in The Witcher 3 I feel like I am the character.
I guess that is more the RPG market in general lately when you get to make a character yourself.
Game devs don't let you add flaws to your character so you are just perfect and thus kinda boring, you can't really be unique.

The News segment is much better than it used to be, the mailbag segment was well done, and the overall flow of the conversations as the podcast progressed really worked.

Again another great ep guys! Loving the speed run news of gaming and loosely related news and the focus on Prey this week. Looking at franchises was a great topic, good range of games brought up. Email segment also was great. Lots of varied topics. Not sure if it should be every week as on the down weeks this would be a great way to keep things fresh whereas the news and new releases on busy weeks are more than enough to fill up an episode. This would be the perfect backburner topic to fill those quiet weeks

That MEA 1.06 patch: They polished a lot of things, including fixing issues that the previous 1.05 patch introduced. The simple fact that SAM no longer keeps saying that there's new email (made worse with 1.05) somehow makes it seem unreasonably better now.

I'm hoping for DLCs. Too many unanswered questions for a self-contained title. It's almost like we didn't reach the end of the first novel in a new series, yet.
