Hi Everyone!!!!  I have a question that perhaps you guys can help me with.  I was currently inspired by Adam and started getting into board games.  I am wondering if there are any Dungeon crawler style board games that can play with 4 - 8 people and a lengthy campaign (10 - 12 hours) .  Any suggestions would be great.  Thanks everyone, this community is FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!

Go Gigantic was a great game. I had a lot of fun with it. And it genuinely could get really intense. But the game was such a footnote. There was so little drive behind it. Great art style. Great gameplay. But at the end of the day, I never felt like the game was alive. Very few maps. And the gameplay did get repetitive with meh rewards. Not to mention the locked rotational roster. It felt like a game that anticipated some level of success and encouraged players to buy and try new characters but had not enough people that cared. And instead desperately needed something like Overwatch did, with an open unlocked roster. Another note I just tend to find. But games with dps/tank/healer formats seem to struggle. Overwatch again, it works because your healing is so evident, and when you play someone like Reinhardt you know its working because everyone is behind you and alive. But in Gigantic, very few characters aside from the heavy dps ones felt like their impact on the game was meaty and responsive at times and that weight behind your play is such a big deal these days.

What's good about Monster Hunter as a series is that most of the community is pretty cool and great to help one another out. If you guys ever got questions, I'm sure myself and others on the site will do our best to assist to help you guys get more comfortable and to understand things. Never be afraid to ask the Monster Hunter community. (yes there are some sour pusses as there are in every fanbase but still giving that offer.)

For those on the fence with Monster Hunter World, no one talks about the negatives.  Everything that you do is just a little more complicated than it should be, there is always an extra step or button press.  Looting most things just takes a second but some stuff it takes 5 seconds, that may not seem like a big deal but after your hundredth mining node it gets a little annoying.  Also you should be aware, for the large monsters there is no such thing as a quick kill, solo it will take 15 minutes or more and with how the monsters can stun you and knock you around it can get extremely frustrating.

Over all I think it's a good game but there are to many little things that bother me for me to say it's great like everyone else.  I would recommend it but not at full price, unless you like grinding out those big monster kills over and over again.  You should watch some videos if you're not sure but who doesn't do that these days lol.

I don't see a problem with it taking a while to gather materials from a design perspective. If you could run by and pick stuff up without stopping that removes the threat of monsters coming in and smacking you unforgivably for trying to farm in their presence. There are ways around that with the ghillie suit and such, and there are skills you can build to make mining/gathering/etc quicker as well. I'll absolutely admit there is a huge barrier to entry, its complex, and a bit of a pain to learn when you are fresh to the series. It can feel convoluted at first, but overall its not terrible.

Also, time to kill depends on the monster and player skill. Something like a rathlos, anjanath or pukei pukei will take me anywhere from 5-10 minutes if I play well even in the higher ranks. If I make mistakes like I'm prone to, it takes closer to the 15 minutes. Then there are the elder dragons which take even longer, but, I mean come on, its an ELDER DRAGON, a final boss, its supposed to be hard. Also if the monster is stunning you and knocking you around, its punishing you for getting hit, that's the sad truth of this game, you have to learn to avoid getting hit cause you don't get stunned unless you are hit a lot or by a super move which in all fairness generally are pretty telegraphed, though some monsters can feel a bit bullshit I'll admit later on.

Overall, you are right though, some people won't enjoy a complex game that requires you to learn monsters combos and attitudes and repetition is absolutely a thing in this game, but they've made all the monsters so robust that no hunt is ever the same anymore. Its just a matter of preference, do you want to slay monsters and do it well, or do you want an easy game that won't punish you for being a beginner.
