Didn't buy either of these but downloaded from Xbox Live Game with Gold. Wolf Among Us and Valiant Hearts. All I knew of Wolf was TellTale and based on some fairy tale comic book. I have now started reading the comic because I love the world. I started Valiant Hearts while waiting for something to install and I just loved the art and story.

I pre-ordered the Chaos Rising expansion to Dawn of War 2 and received a free copy of Saints Row 2. I have 70 minutes played in Chaos Rising and over 200 hours in 'that knockoff GTA clone?' and its sequels. One of the best purchases I've ever made for entirely the wrong reasons.

The first game I bought without knowing anything about was the very first .hack game on the PS2. I had no idea what it was about and just looked at the back cover and thought "OH a anime game, I will like it." and I LOVED IT! Plus it came with a OVA so that was a nice add when buying the game..

I loved Oni when I was a kid, I remember playing it all the time on my computer. It was one of my first PC games but no one I game with these days has even heard of it.

Was pleasantly surprised to hear Ashley mention it as it is definitely a game I have some nostalgia for.

The game I bought with almost no information, but ended up loving was Transformers: War for Cybertron. i honestly have no idea why I bought the game, but I loved it and played it so much.

I also bought Skyrim after seeing barely any footage of it. I just heard people saying how great it was. So I bought it and I FREAKING LOVED IT! It definitely has it problems, but it was the first Elder Scrolls game I played and I played that more than I think I played any other game.

A game I bought on a whim was Persona 5. Before this I had never played a persona game or really ever heard of the series before. I think I saw Lawrence Sonntag play Persona 4 on stream once but I only watched for about 5 minutes.

I heard really good things from everyone about Persona 5 and nothing else was really out at the time (I had just beaten Horizon and Destiny was in a huge content drought, side note really excited for D2) Anyway I picked up Persona 5 through the PS store and that night I got through the first half of the first dungeon/palace. It was quite slow to begin with but the intro scene (in the casino) was enough of a tease for me to want to continue playing, along with the dark story points it touched on. I've been a big fan of pokemon so the whole aspect of collecting personas really hooked me and the combat felt quite fast compared to other rpg's I've played in the past. The music was fantastic and weirdly enough I never got irritated with the battle theme.

Overall I'm really glad that I picked it up, my only issue is that if you play NG+ you can't skip the first 4 or so hours of tutorial but that's just me being picky.

A game I had no knowledge of when I bought it was Europa Universalis 3. And I can honestly say that it's probably one of the best purchases I've ever made.

It's hard to believe these days but my unexpected love was mass effect 1!

This was about a year before mass effect 2 was set to release. I frequented Game Crazy (rip in peace Hollywood Video) because at the time the local game store was insanely overpriced and only Gamestop in town was in the mall, and our mall has some asinine rule against being unaccompanied minors after 5pm, and I always had after school stuff that kept me out past 5.

So I'm in the store, I've kinda become a regular, and I'm talking about needing a new game to play. The guy asks what I like, and I list various shooters and some turn based rpgs like kotor 1 & 2, fire emblem, golden sun, and Pokemon (pre smartphone me had gameboys for on the go gaming.)

So the guy is like, "You like halo, kotor, and rpgs?" He's being slightly cagey. And I'm thinking I've offended the guy. So I respond with my most genuine, "uh... yeah..."

In hindsight I realize he was trying to contain his excitement, as walks over to the used game section, grabs ME1 and presents it to me and just smiles and says, "ever heard of it?"

I say, "yeah I've seen pictures and I think I saw the xplay review, but my internet at home sucks so I'm never on my pc and I haven't seen more than that. I only play single player, my internet is just too slow."

He tells me this is prefect, tons of hours of game play, no internet needed, same folks that make the kotors, epic space hero story stuff, and it's only 15 bucks.

I figure what the hell, I thought I'd be blowing 50 at least, and the prima strategy guide is only 20, I'm coming out 15 ahead, and he's the manager and tells me, "keep your reciept. If you don't like it bring everything back and I'll give you a full refund, book too."

So I'm sold. I get it home, dig in, and I think I restarted that game 3 times before I finally got the hang of everything. The mechanics were kinda funny and I kept getting past certain stuff without understanding exactly how I was doing. But once I got it, I got it, and it had me.

God I wish they would put it up on XBOne so I could buy it again and play it. Such a great game, even with the flaws.

I remember getting ME2 with my xbox 360, I played the first mission or so and then didn't pick it back up until a couple of years later. After growing up a little (and gaining more respect for story driven games) I finally decided to try it again. over 3 months I played through it 4 times, then when I got a ps3 (all my friends where on ps so I decided to switch) I played through another 3 times in preparation for ME3. Although the ending of 3 wasn't that great I felt the journey was more important than the ending anyway.

The game that I got with no knowledge but ended up loving is still one of my favorite games of all time, The Suffering. All I knew was that it was supposed to be creepy and at 15, playing late at night so my parents wouldn't hear, in a nearly pitch dark bedroom it was absolutely terrifying! If I could ever get a remaster/continuation of a series it would be that one.

I didn't buy the game, but I traded my copy of Legend of Dragoon (Possibly my favorite ps1 jrpg) for my friend's copy of Kingdom Hearts. All I knew about KH was that it had Disney and Final Fantasy together and I thought it sounded dumb as shit. A few of my friends were raving about it so I figured I'd played LoD enough to part with it (a decision I regret because I miss my physical copy) and never looked back. Fell in love with KH almost immediately.
