This was a good documentary on Night Trap. Like it or not, games would be much different without it.

Like it or not, Night Trap is actually very important in the history of gaming. You may laugh, but the industry would probably be a very different place without it.

Jet Set! Jet Set! J S R! Groovy! Haha.

After the underrated fun of Sunset Overdrive (which also needs a sequel), I think now is the time for another proper JSRF game.

Would of said Age of Empires, been keen for a while to see another one, its been a decade, and then today they announced Age of Empires 4! (speaking of real time strategy games like StarCraft you talked about)

I mean, Super Mario RPG and Secret of Mana come to mind.

Super Mario RPG, could be Paper Mario style, but mostly in the world of RPG with Mallow and Geno would be awesome! But, turn based Mario games have always been fun.

Secret of Mana, drop in and out, co-op, hack and slash RPG. If you don't have friends to play with, then you can use bots, and set up their fighting style.

yes Ryan give us a Night Trap Let's Watch. Also kind of a bummer Sonic Mania isn't out yet on PC, still waiting, but it comes out when War of The Chosen does, so i'm not sure which I would play Sonic while i have that.

Is it too much to ask for a revitalization of Conception? I spent nearly a thousand hours on the American version of the second entry and loved every minute of it, save for a few cutscenes...

I know they tried it with Mighty No 9, but I really want a PROPER new Megaman game. Im a little young to have enjoyed the original ones when they first came out, but I remember loving the X series.

Also i would really love a new Burnout game. paradise was so much damn fun, and I want Criterion to do it again. They were supposedly working on this new IP with multiple vehicles that looked cool, but there hasn't been word on that in years.

Among the last games they referenced regarding second chances:

Roger Wilco (Space Quest) is my spirit animal.

The TTG-like King's Quest (by the Odd Gentlemen) was very Sierra-ish but very, very (spoiler) very sad. I think it was modernized just enough to keep the nostalgia without losing the old-school-feel among all the new school games out there now. If there are to be more, it won't be Graham's story nor even his kids' stories. I don't think there will be more given what KQ(2015) went through to get finished.

The "Two Guys from Andromeda" (Space Quest) are making a new game called SpaceVenture from their kickstarter campaign. I know it has gone through some changes (such as a rewriting of the main character), but it looks to me to be a bit too old-school to sit among the new school of gaming. If they want the graphical adventure game, they're going to need to bring it up to at the least TTG level of appearance and interactivity. (I'm also not a fan of reinventing the wheel just to do it -- not necessary to build a whole new engine from pretty much nothing when licensing something existing would be easier and possibly more cost-effective... which brings me to the barebones Lumberyard [formerly CryEngine] project...)

We all know about Star Citizen by now -- from the creator of Wing Commander and Privateer. (Ryan likes Vagabond [or the name at least]. I prefer Maniac. That's one lucky SOB that survived out of dumb luck most of the time. Vagabond's luck wasn't up to snuff for a card player -- too many bad bets.) I think people expected more Wing Commander or Privateer, but I don't think Star Citizen is going to be either in the end if it ever reaches the end. It seems that Elite: Dangerous has managed to slip into that Privateer niche quite nicely and is still advancing -- doing what SC should have done: get one feature working before moving onto the next instead of trying to get them all working. I think that if you want Privateer Online (a project that died in the death throes of Origin Systems), I would recommend Elite: Dangerous over Star Citizen (and I loved Wing Commander).

Shroud of the Avatar is supposed to be a spiritual successor to the Ultima Series. (Also Origin Systems and the series had a very bad end with the company's death, but strangely UO -- which I was friends-and-family beta -- is still going -- the first game with the MMORPG label -- coined it, actually. A game made for dial-up modem gaming and experienced the first recorded case-study for "Time-to-Cock": the time it takes when a player is given free reign to do anything for them to spell the world FUCK on the ground for everyone to see -- measured in microseconds.) I don't understand how Shroud of the Avatar is a spiritual successor to the Ultima series except for the references to the Avatar (known originally as the Stranger according to the Ultima lore). It seems to share very little else. I think that this game also needed to focus on a limited set of features first before expanding -- just like UO did before launch and continued to do after.

I know that Origin Systems was consumed by EA (which Star Citizen seems to keep thumbing its nose at), but I believe the problem was OSI couldn't quite figure out how to exist in EA's corporate world. I think Bioware is doing pretty good after some missteps in the early days of its acquisition into EA. Regarding Bioware...

I want a remake of Knights of the Old Republic "2" (which is actually Obsidian, distributed by Bioware). LucasArts' meddling made a mess of that game which had a story premise that needed nothing from Bioware's KotOR. It should have been left to be its own story as "The Sith Lords". No KotOR required. Given the style of that story, an adventure game versus an RPG might have suited it better. I cannot consider The Old Republic MMO to be enough like KotOR to be a second chance for KotOR. Many people do, but I just can't.

I'm going to say "Half Life 3", not because it's going to happen, but at this point this is the only way that it WILL happen- have a group of fans get fed up, make it themselves, then get hired by Valve to do it for real (cough, Black Mesa, cough).

    A guy can hope, right?

Legend of Dragoon from the PS was my first RPG that I ever beat on my own when there was very little internet access. It was a fairly simple turn-based RPG except that you had to time pressing the X button for maximum damage.

I would love a new Dungeon Keeper game.  Or for them to remake/remaster the first one.  If that game was available now, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Also, Undertale is also available on Vita ;)

If you're looking for a new Dungeon Keeper style game, I would suggest looking at 'War for the Overworld' on Steam. It's about as close as you can get I think. Plus, some clever people have remade some classic DK maps in the workshop.

sonic mania was great until.  music dropped, game crashed, slowdown and i just cant do the starlight 2 boss it seems all based on luck and i just cant deflect the bots enough to kill it.  i dont mind games been hard but its just frustrating when it seems random whether the bots will jump and if so vertically or horizontal and if its timed so you dont get zapped it takes the fun out when it just seems to need luck and when you fail you have to waste 10 mins getting back there

I noticed that the Silver Sonic clones usually start off with a spin-dash to the edge of the screen.  It either goes straight across the ground (in which case it's usually quicker to pop it and get another), or hops up.  When it does THAT, jump into it from underneath- it will usually fling it up and hit Metal Sonic.  If there's any consolation, there seems to be a bit of a soft-homing mechanism, so you just need to get things close.

Have fun with OIl Ocean, though.  That boss is a PITA.

yeah spin dashing the metal sonic while its in the centre seems to work cheesed it fairly easily that way.  there are some bosses that seem to be a bit of an f u to players.  i dont want games to be stupidly easy but when it feels unfair and beating it feels like you cheesed it thats not good either

the issue with joycons is that they do not JUST work with the switch they also can sync to tablets and phones using Bluetooth connection. If they only worked with switch they'd be cool but since they also work on other devices they may find themselves in some trouble
