My sister and I didn't play video games growing up. Lego Star Wars was all we played. So when we got Knights of the Old Republic 2, my sister thought she needed to get to a hub world before she could save her progress. It took 13 hours before we realized "Are you sure you want to quit? All unsaved progress will be lost" didn't mean EVERYTHING would be lost.

And then, at 3 AM, I got a chance to play the game that I bought.

    Sisters.

And it's def gonna be Metroid Prime 4 at Nintendo Direct.

About Pokemon, a thing to remember is that the modeling work for every pokemon is already finished. One of the big hints that we had when we were discussing the Switch before the reveal was that it was discovered that the 3d models for all of the pokemon in Sun/Moon were of a much greater resolution than the system could render. At the time we thought that this meant we would get Sun/Moon on the "next console" also but then most of the other assets did not have the same level of fidelity. If they are using an existing core engine then it really would not take them that long to put together a good game.

I think it is something like 80% of the dev time to get the first 20% of a game done as you make the engine/core assets/mechanics functioning but at this point all that work is done before they have even touch the storyboard.

I really feel that Pokemon will be the Odyssey for this year. It will be the big draw for the system going into the holiday season to punch up the numbers if they are truly shooting for that 30M figure.

With Dark Souls 1 there are technically 4 ways you can go at the start. In my first game, I descended down, and thanks to my starting gift, I branched off and met some dragons, and a giant humanoid throwing boulders. Feeling a little under leveled, I went back and descended further, and met some ghosts. Ghosts that…took no damage because I wasn’t using the item that allowed me to damage them. So, I went back up. I headed into a graveyard, and got my ass kicked by Skeletons who would not die because I did not kill them in the correct way. A little dejected, I wandered around. I saw a hole in the ground, and wondered if I could jump in. I found some goodies, and then dropped right into the middle of the graveyard again.

Is it any wonder it took me three tries to get into the game?

However, the memes about Dark Souls’ difficulty are exaggerated. It is very easy to die in Dark Souls, but when you die, you almost always understand why you died. You got careless, and wandered too far into an area. You got greedy, and launched one too many attacks. And on. That is why Dark Souls is one of the easiest, hard games out there.

I watch a series that was originally titled, “Dan Sucks at Dark Souls”. Dan is not a great player (not horrible either). He played the hardest DS game (Scholar of the First Sin), with the worst starting class, and died 250 times, in a game that takes 100ish hours to complete. So, he died (roughly) every 24 minutes. Think about how often you die in a not-hard game.
