"I am not worried. I think creative freedom is still here."

Zampella obviously hasn't heard about Visceral Games. Bet VG thought the exact same thing, given their staff and reputation, when they were handed the star wars project.

glad to see a new face on The Know.

Though, to be honest, I don't think your voice/vocal-tendencies lend themselves well to the jokes told on the side. Then again, I think the same thing of Mica, so maybe it's just me. >_>

EA - suckering people since the 80s. OSI wasn't worried, either. A lot of "intentions" in those statements by Respawn. The road to ruin is paved with good intentions.

For some of those "boost" microtransactions: I still have to question why would someone put something into a game when they think people will play to skip it. That's an awful way to advertise your game.

CryTek? Huh. So... how does Amazon fit in with CryTek? I thought Amazon bought CryEngine to use in Lumberyard when CryTek was unable to pay their employees or some such. (Some people developing with CryEngine switched to Lumberyard.) Does CryTek have their Engine back or are they using a new version developed by Amazon's folks?

Movies based on games. Can they capture the player experience? Can the capture audiences without player experience? If they can't do both, they're in an uphill battle. Staying in-universe but not dealing with player characters or key gameplay events can relax that criteria by reducing the number of expectations on what should happen by players when taking the story outside of their former awareness and getting players and other audiences both up to speed as long as they don't contradict established experiences too much.

As mentioned: If the story cannot stand on its own without the IP, it won't stand with the support of the IP, either. The IP only supports sales but provides nothing to the story, and can even weigh it down.

... and with pretty much everything, that's not a hard rule. They could reinvent the established story featuring singing whalesharks and it might actually make bank, incredibly. It's such a weird thing. It's a bad bet, but it could happen.

for the bold, totally agree. And it feels like it would just be depressing, like "hey spend some time developing this section of the game that we want everyone to skip" fun use of time right there.

Game movies, I think there is a way to do them well, and It's kind of how people do 'no heal' runs of Fallout/Skyrim ect. With a lot of the games that have been made into movies coughACcough the main character of the movie is carried over from the game, but everyone played that character differently and has a different idea of what that character is really like. Shifting things just slightly from the 'main' character in those games to 'person in that would' could actually work.

you know, just don't go warcraft and have all the main character all of them everywhere of god who was he again

You were pretty good. Confidence and enunciating everything made this at least mildly entertaining (most of the stories were about topics I'm not particularly inclined to follow). I wouldn't mind if Brian was on here and there. Ashley and Mica are definitely my favorites tho. More Haywood would be nice.
