While it's unfortunate for the Marvel Heroes folks, its a good reminder to everyone that any online-dependent game can and will shut down one day. For some games, that may simply mean loss of online multiplayer in an otherwise offline game, but for others, that's the whole game. And all the items and skins accumulated dissapear.

Usually it's for really old games so people don't care, but people need to be aware that even reletively recent and consistently played games can just up and get shut down at the whim of the service providers. Overwatch could just stop tomorrow, and there's nothing we could do about it. I mean, it won't, but it could.

That's how games as a service works. And since the negative effect is so delayed... I'm concerned how far it'll be taken before enough people fully grasp it's down-sides.
