    Just because they're not telling you what the Darkness is doesn't mean that they don't know. I read that article as if they're not focusing on it, not that it's a mystery they still are trying to figure out. From the beginning, it's seemed like it was always about the Fallen and Hive as seeking to destroy the Light and the Guardians, making them part of the Darkness we keep hearing about. The Cabal never struck me as part of it, nor the Vex, but they could be. The next game is panning out to show us how the Cabal are supposed to fit into the lore. After that I would expect us to hear more about other aspects, including the extent of the Darkness and what it's trying to accomplish, in future entries in the series. It's interesting to hear someone else's take on that statement, but it doesn't feel like you guys read all of it before forming an opinion on it. The wording is very important and bungie probably chose their words carefully prior to this interview.

    The statement is '"We’ve never really said what [The Darkness] means,” Smith continues.

    “Ultimately, we do owe our players a story there – what is The Darkness? – but that’s not this game. We wanted to remove as much of the extra terminology as possible and focus on telling the Destiny 2 story. In so doing, allow Destiny 2 to usher in the rest of the saga. It’s going to start some threads that we intend to carry through.”'

    This implies that there is a question there. They are choosing to not answer that right now. They are giving us a game that has more lore for us to experience, which will then circle back around to be a part of the previously established story at some point, and ultimately unify what you know with what you had questions about in the first game. While other games have made it up as they went along, it doesn't mean that it's the case every single time a developer chooses to ignore something in a sequel.

      More of that quote goes on to say [We don't really have an answer for that question, and we want to figure that out before we write more about it] or something along those lines. Smith was basically revealing that due to the rewrites to Destiny 1 a year before release they lost track of what they wanted the Darkness to be. Whether that's an ambiguous force of enemies, entropy, or pure evil given form Bungie just didn't have it down on paper yet.

      However, Destiny lore does kind of hint that The Darkness is really just things trying to kill Travellers. The Hive learned from the Deep Ones that they could eat Travellers and gain power, Crota pseudo created the Vex by letting them create themselves... weird time powers mumbo jumbo... and they have some unexplained religious reason to kill the Traveller, The Fallen were abandoned by the Traveller (like we almost were until Rasputin apparently shot it full of holes), and as we see from the trailer for 2 the Cabal were passed by as potential students to the Traveller all together.

      All that lore basically says Bungie was shying away from a Big Bad Darkness in favor of a more metaphorical shitstorm of bad guys showing up to take away our McGuffin.

    As Gus said, Horizon told basically the only possible story in that world. I'd love to see more but I don't think the Hades lantern will be enough for an entire new game, and if it is, I hope they take their time with it. So a beautiful open-world old-school story-driven RPG that requires brains over brawn in combat? Sure, Microsoft. Go ahead. Just... don't do cavemen vs. dinosaurs.

      Well, that's not entirely true. The "Masters Of Hades" plot-point could spawn another game. Gaia still needs to be fixed (she doesn't REALLY need to be fixed, but it's either that, or stop the Cauldrons from spawning endless supply of machines), and it could turn out that that rocket that was going to space with Apollo alpha a thousand years ago, didn't actually blow up. We hear the news about the launch failure from Sobeck, but what if it didn't actually fail? The rocket reportedly blowing up immediately struck me as suspicious, and it would make sense - you tell people that the only way for humanity to survive is to fix the earth, and then the colony can come back some time down the line when they feel like it's "time".

      There are more stories in the universe, they might not involve as much "mystery" about the world, but they're still there, and the game was such a massive success that they'll make another one anyway,

      @_NowakP You actually made my day pointing out that many unresolved plots. But the audio logs pointed out that everyone going to the space station was sterilized and they had enough supplies to last 30 years. There's no way those people would last 1500 years, especially if they couldn't have children. Still, something from space corrupted Hades. It's gotta be aliens. Cavemen vs. robots, next game cavemen vs. aliens.

      Personally I'd rather see more DLCs than a full-on sequel. I feel like each plot point is a smaller adventure, not a full on game. Regardless, I want more and I'd like to see what sort of knockoff Microsoft is planning because we need more true RPGs lately.

      @DavidtheWavid

      I'm pretty sure only the people living in Project: Zero Dawn were sterilized. I mean, an off-planet colony wouldn't make ANY sense if you sent a bunch if sterile humans over there ;D

      We're going to get the story DLC soon enough. I'm just hoping that it's more of an "expansion", rather than just a couple of loosely connected missions. I mean, it has to be bigger, right? They did have the stage to announce it at Sony's E3 conference ;D I doubt it will turn out to be another entire game like Ucharted: Chloe, but at least 5 hours of story would be nice.

      @_NowakP It's hard to tell the size of the world since the vantage points aren't a scale distance away from each other as they are in the real world, but judging by Cheyenne Mountain/Mother's Heart and Monument Valley/Meridian, the northeast tip of the map just barely edges into the southern part of Wyoming, so since Wyoming and Colorado are about the same size and the teaser image shows both Yellowstone and Devil's Tower, on opposite sides of the state. So it should be about the size of the Colorado portion of the map

    Personally, I'm most stoked for Anthem, with BF2 and Skull & bones tied for second. It looks interesting :D

    As for E3 in general... I was let down. It was super lack luster. Few new exciting announcements, few upcomming games or any real import (IMO) and a sever lack of Aisha Taylor at Ubisoft :(

    At least we got some more concrete info on scorpio... kindof. *price is right failure music*
