Ashley: You don't like to talk to people.

Gus: Right! Now a monkey can talk for me.

Seriously though, the games looked cool and they almost had me with the watch updates, other than that it was a snoozefest for me. But I'm pretty firmly #TeamAndroid planted, although my computer of choice is a Mac. Android has their missteps too.

When Apple announced the new screen though all I could hear was that cha-ching for Samsung since their producing the screens. The event itself was cool and I know the new lineup will be enjoyed by many.

I wonder if the skipping '9' has to do with Asian market...like how there isn't floor 9 in hospitals etc

The number nine isn't special in Asian culture as far as I know. Four is the unlucky number (they'll skip that floor like the west skips thirteen). They most likely used X because it's the ten year anniversary of the first iPhone. And eight is considered lucky so might as well release an iPhone 8 alongside the X I suppose

My favorite headline was it was the Note 8 with animated emojis.

So can we get an episode from The Know done entirely in animojis? Only way I can see the $1k price point worthwhile.

Microsoft: We're skipping #9 and going from 8 straight to 10!

    Apple: Hold our cider.

Personally I just miss the days when game consoles just played games, phones called, and watches told you the time. I feel like technology peaked around 2010 and since then, companies are just changing things for the sake of changing them. Look at Youtube's new layout. It adds nothing. It just spaces everything out. Removing a headphone jack is not a feature, and mocap smiley faces aren't worth $1000.

    Microsoft skipped 3 version numbers internally, as seen through the WinVer app. 95=4.0. 98=4.1. 2000=NT5.0. XP=NT5.1. Vista=NT6.0. 7=NT6.1. 8=NT6.2. 8.1=NT6.3. ... 10=NT10.0. NT7-9 are missing.

My Windows Phone that I got during RTX14 is 2KHD OLED resolution. My tablet does facial recognition for login ... and it works. Nobody else in the office can unlock it. My partner can log into his account on my tablet, but not mine, and vice versa. The messengers on the tablet, my desktops, and phone do animated emojis with a set of animals. It is my understanding that Android had such features before Windows did. So... Apple is two steps behind... again... and more expensive to boot (and to maintain).

(I can also operate my phone from my tablet, my car, and from all my desktops, too, over Bluetooth. If I want to tether cellular data, though, I'd have to change my grandfathered contract for 2009 unlimited data pricing -- but that's the carrier and not the phone.)

My Samsung Gear S3 Smartwatch can make calls without connecting to a phone. It has it's own number and everything. That came out almost a year ago. The future has already come.

Agreed.I was live tweeting the event for work. When they mentioned the "swipe up" for apps access I tweeted something like - See it's simple, swipe up... just like Google Now. With a No shade, no tea GIF for emphasis. The charging mats have been out it seems forever and Samsung's watches have been pretty good. Even Fossil has a great Android Gear option. The health apps seemed cool, but now that I think about it, my Samsung did a lot before I lost it.

So glad I didn't bother waiting for the 8 or the X and bought a 6 plus the other day. I'm gonna keep my headphone jack dammit!!

...all I have to do is put my thumb on the home button... which I'd already do even with facial recognition... I also like my headphone jack. I mean, are Apple customers masochists?

Is this why they made the emoji movie? To hype up the grand feature of the 1k iPhone?

More like to outsource production of the sequel. Apple will just record all of the five people who will use this thing and make it into a movie using iMovie.
