Everyone HATES Batman v Superman?

Entertainment News: Everyone HATES Batman v Superman?

Did you want more than crazy explosions and action scenes? Did you want meaningful character development and superheroes that do their supering without destroying cities? TOO BAD! That's not what you're getting. Enjoy the explosions though. They're pretty sweet.

Someone tell me if Batman actually did any detective work to take down Superman? Because originally, arguably the only reason Batman stood a chance against Superman was because he observed and schemed and pinpointed his weaknesses... It seems like recently the great detective has been downsized to just another action hero macho-man...
For me, not being a clever Batman is kind of a deal breaker.

Didn't watch any of the trailers, read the reviews, or watch this before I saw the movie last night. I am a little knowledgeable about the comics though. As a comic-book movie, I thought it was good, considering what they were trying to accomplish. As a fan of comic-books/movies, I thought it was awesome. My feelings were "I really like this" up until the movie ended and then my feelings changed. I don't want spoil anything though. The reason isn't why you'd think though if you saw it.

    tl;dr I thought it was a good comic-book movie.

Die-hard DC fan here, I'm seeing it today. While I know some parts are inevitably going to disappoint me, like they said, it's still Batman and Superman on the silver screen for the first time. I've waited my whole life for this!

I kind of feel like Adam Kovic should be doing this one. This is his movie after all.

I'll wait to get it from Redbox. Everything I've heard points to a Transformers level of Audio/Visual assault so I'll pass on the theatre experience.

I called this months ago. Civil War, too.
They're both overhyped, and will be mediocre, so a disappointment.

Ill likely still see the movie this weekend. Honestly half of these reviews sound like nit picking and just groaning this isn't another marvel movie. Of course this is a darker tone than the marvel movies. I'm willing to bet more people died in the superman movie than all of the marvel movies combined...just don't count the titan with the purple infinity stone destroying the planet and were good. I honestly would've been surprised if this movie had a lot of joking. maybe a few dark jokes or some witty banter between Alfred and bruce but not much. The only review I am willing to say "called it" is the lex luthor review. I had my doubts about Eisenberg from the beginning. I'll just make sure to set my expectations on an extremely annoying lex and hope to God he doesn't meet that expectation so I walk out thinking: Eh he wasn't That bad.

Well it seems that the critic rating is getting lower, as of the time of this post, the critic rating on rotten tomatoes is sitting at 34%.

The truly sad thing that comes from all this is that the movies that have the most chance to not be dragged down into the dark depths of Snyder's films will be at risk if sales for the movie fail to meet expectations. While the Wonder Woman film is safe as it has already begun and I believe completed it's shoot schedule (barring pickups/post work). Films like the Flash, Aquaman and others will come under an even greater amount of scrutiny than they were in before. And all that will likely add is a more diluted story,

I won't be seeing Batman v Superman the night before opening, or on opening day, but I do plan on seeing the film I think it's great that Zack Snyder was given the right to make an apology film for Man of Steel, but to flounder the opportunity that these two comicbook icons provide is at the end of the day just a major disappointment. I guess we can all just be thankful that their suits aren't animated and green.

I loved every bit of this movie, I think it was very well done.
Not enough fight scenes, explosions and cheap humour though, apparently

I think that's the opposite of what the reviews were saying. At least according to what Meg and Ashley said, the reviews said the action was a spectacle and well done, it was just the plot, characters and any sense of joy that was missing.

I haven't seen it, so I don't know, I just think you've misinterpreted the complaints.

I guess I'll just wait for something else to make it to cinemas that I want to see.

    ... Like RWBY! :P

(Okay, I'll admit to seeing this movie too. I'll be left out of every conversation at work for weeks if I don't.

The most surprising thing about all this is that people are actually surprised about all this. The trailers made it clear this movie was going to suck, so why are we acting surprised when it starts getting bad reviews?

I don't think it's fair to say the ads proved the movie would suck. They may well have lowered expectations, but I've been presently surprised by films with bad advertising.

I do think it's a problem when an ad campaign a) reveals a great deal of the plot of the film (including that the versus part of the title was a fairly minor plot point) and b) garners little to no interest from many of their target demographic.

I read the reviews and they do seem unnecessarily harsh especially when many are comparing these to the Marvel films which they are not even in the same tone. I don't expect humor, I expect intellectual imagery and realistic reflection on these characters. I honestly don't expect these films to stand up to the Nolanverse Batman but I do wish people would stop comparing it to them. I don't sit here and compare the latest high end Ford Sedan to the Model T. Both are amazing cars but one clearly functions more for its time than the other?

I've heard it said before that the major difference between Marvel and DC in the film world is that DC is constantly apologising for being a comic. And it can work, sure. Having the villains in the Nolanverse be real people with some psychological trauma, as opposed to real people who fell in a vat of acid or transformed into giant bats/crocodiles etc. worked really well. But then they tried to emulate that in the new series of films, and they missed the mark.

And while you could chalk it up to current audiences being more open to Marvel's brand of superhero, I do think there is something fundamentally lacking from the current DC film universe. I don't want to call it heart, or soul, or any other wishy-washy word (heh, wishywashyword), but to me at least, Man of Steel, and now Batman v Superman feel like they died inside but just kept moving.

I really hope they succeed with this move because Marvel needs the competition. I will do my part and see it Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
