I would say that it is a matter of the trailers using Joker too much, because even though I knew Joker wasn't a part of the Suicide Squad (purely based on trailers) I at least thought that he would be THE antagonist. But then he wasn't and it was sort of like an awkward second enemy which really just overwhelmed it all and made the Joker just sort of...there for the sake of being there.

Also how could you not know about 30 Seconds to Mars before knowing he is an actor?

Have to admit I liked Leto's Joker, though I feel the amount of screentime he had was probably the only thing the film did right in terms of story. Any more screentime would have robbed the rest of the cast of their's, and given how little time was spent on most of them that's probably for the best it didn't happen.

Beyond him and Robbie's Harley (and El Diablo, up until the end when he starts really overacting), nothing else really worked for me.

I'm gonna go conspericy nut here for a sec, but Suicide Squad was panned by critics and given the meh by fans yet is making millions of dollars. Why? All of this normally swept under the rug drama is being brought to light and making people curious enough to go see the movie that has come out of that shitstorm. That being said I enjoyed the movie but my big draw was mostly Harley Quinn, a charater I love, and Katanna, to see how they would shoehorn her into this movie (uselessly).

I think it's making tons of money because there's really nothing much else out this summer that people actually want to see, plus it's a franchise people know, plus like you said, there's just a ridiculous amount of news around it and that always draws people in. And I mean, honestly, if I was like 15/16/17 and on summer break I would probably go see it with my friends? I'm sure that has to be a big draw this time of year.

So... Could we say the DC execs were

The kings and queens of promise? Maybe the victims of themselves? The promises they made were not enough. He'll never play the game again. The secrets that they sold, we'll never know.

Everytime I see new stuff about Leto and Suicide Squad I think "What's he whining about this time?"

Honestly, I enjoyed the movie. He wasn't the reason I went to see it but I agree with Ashley that Joker was a big draw for a lot of people and it makes sense that they'd use him to get butts in the seats and then say, "Here's who we actually want you see."

I dunno why people are hating so much on suicide squad. Yeah it's a bit different, but it's still a really good movie. The problem is people keep comparing it to other movies. You have to see it as it's own thing, unrelated to all the others.

I kind of feel like that's the biggest problem the DC movies had from the beginning. I liked Man of Steel and I got what they were going for with it's tone, but from what I gather most people seem to want it to be like the Marvel movies. That basically caused them to turn BvS into what everyone calls a train wreck (I haven't seen it and the descriptions I hear about it make me think I'd like it).

As someone who dislikes the movie, I have a few things to cite why I dislike it without comparing it to other films. The pacing of the film is terrible, the story is very ill-structured, the characters don't interact much but then start spewing about being a family, while most of the characters are given so little development that you could have cut most of them out and lost nothing. The action also isn't that amazing, and the film doesn't really do anything with the 'villains forced to be heroes' thing, with said villains not really doing anything particularly villainous, while the film makes the idea behind the Squad a collossal failure.

There's also the personal issue of how I spent months expecting a great movie I'd enjoy and was incredibly disappointed, which really just fuels my dislike of it even more, and the fact that they removed a lot of Deadshot's more interesting character traits and turned him into just another generic action guy, and made Amanda Waller a complete idiot.

Honestly, while its been unfavourably compared to other films, I've seen mostly its the films' defenders who feel the need to bring up the other movies in comparison, especially the people who feel the need to attack the Marvel films while defending the movie. There seems to be this weird, semi-childish need to prop the film up by attacking Marvel and their fans, which started before most of them had the chance to even see the movie.

Now, lets proceed with the dislikes I'm going to get for this post.

I'm still not a fan of Heath Ledgers Joker.

I hated the 3 minutes that Leto was even in. Like come on he drew a mouth on his hand to laugh into.

The only way im gonna buy Jokers grill is if Batman knocked out all his actual teeth after Jason Todd went ka-blooy

Maybe I'm biased towards Mark Hamil, but I thought Ledgers Joker felt kind of boring.

Nothing and nobody beats Hamills Joker. Except the Conroys Batman

He might not have been the most exciting, but I'll be damned if he wasn't the most convincing.

True. Still I can't help but compare the two and find Hamill to be the superior. Just my performance since the animated show was my introduction to Batman.

I imagine Ledger would be more entertaining without other Jokers.

Like, by himself? He's a great villain, who's both terrifying and entertaining. Compared to Hamill and other Jokers? Honestly he's a lot less entertaining and a lot less threatening, feeling more like a slasher villain than the Joker.
