DC TV shows are not in trouble at all, I truly don't understand this for some reason they are tying Marvel TV to DC TV, which are two completely different universes and being handled completely different ways! Supergirl is being moved to the CW because thats where the TV universe for DC is incorporating a multi earth plot. This was kind of insulting as a fan of said shows...

So the correct title for this video should be "Marvel TV shows in Trouble?" DC has been doing amazing on TV, look at their ratings, and Supergirl was moved to the CW because they want to be able to crossover with the other 3 shows. They've already made a statement that there will be a huge crossover event between all 4 shows (Supergirl, Flash, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow) plus it's keeping it's same exact time slot. And it's not like Supergirl was doing bad, it had really good ratings as well. And moving it the CW wasn't the hardest thing in the world anyways, the C in the CW is CBS and the W is Warner Brothers, so it's just moving from it's parent company down so they can do more with it.

I've been watching all the superhero television and watching this video makes it painfully obvious that they haven't. Honestly, I stay away from the know because of videos like these. I'm not going to argue about the show ratings or whatever, but I honestly don't see the point in videos like these. I love both Ryan and Meg but they obviously don't give a fuck about anything they just read off and have no idea about any of the shows they talked about.

Some of the biggest flaws with the excuses marvel is giving, is that. One, marvel still imposes big restrictions on which characters can be used for the show, when its hard to pitch that they exist in the same world except for minor moments. And two, barely any of the supporting or tertiary characters from the movies ever make an appearance in the show. It doesnt have to be Iron man, we would be happy with the inclusion of more minor characters too.

Third, if it largely becomes that movies are worried about tying it to a story line that wont be in the works until later on TV, just use the characters in a way that semi fits. Then let the tv show catch up with an explanation later. Even just seeing some of the SHIELD cast in bit roles for the movie would be really nice. Basically we want them to show some attempt at effort to make it work.

Marvel does great on the big screen but the shows are lack luster. I absolutely LOVE the DC shows. Berlanti has been able to make the DCTVU great and hoping they add more along the way.

Agents Of Shield was pretty poor when It first started, but to be honest it has really, really picked up now and Im really invested in the characters. Im certain everyone knows that Coulson is alive now, so it would be a great shame not to include the tv and netflix characters in a film at some point. Infinity war is a perfect place for this.

Yeah they could at least do a little crossing with the Netflix. if nothing else. Its Marvel movies being lazy about it, they could include easter eggs and it would still mean something. A note in Tonys files about the devil of hells kitchen, or the purple man would have been great and relatively minor to add. Then poof, look inclusion.

Another factor is the international element. Movies screen all over the world at similar times, however TV shows are a nightmare. It's next to impossible to keep up with network TV shows here in the UK unless they are on Netflix. I like what they've done with the Defenders universe though, kind of separate and does it's own thing. I really enjoy those shows (well, mostly).

Agents of SHIELD did have Jaime Alexander twice for Thor related story lines. And I'm with Chloe on this. I'd love to see more connection between TV and movies. It's not that hard to keep up with 13 movies when they come out 2 or 3 a year at most. Seriously, who doesn't have time to see 3 movies in a year? You could easily introduce characters from the TV series in cameo roles for a movie. They wouldn't have to have a huge part, maybe just some kind of supporting role like providing backup while the heroes do the heavy lifting. To anyone who's seen the show it'd be an awesome crossover moment. For anyone else, they'd make as much sense as whatever brand new character you'd be inserting anyway, so why not do it? Obviously the reason is because the people in charge don't like each other and don't want to cooperate that closely, but other than that there's not much stopping something like this from working.

A small cameo, or easter egg acknologement of something from the TV or netflix in one of the movies would go a long way. Even if its just a newspaper talking about the devil of hells kitchen, or turmoil with something SHIELD related. we dont need huge characters, just some ackologement and effort.

@rem234 Exactly. The shows do that with the movies, making reference to "the New York incident" and referring to the Avengers with terms like "the green guy" or "magic hammer". It could be as little as 1 scene with Maria Hill telling Agent May to "make sure he gets this" and giving her something for Coleson from Fury, or maybe a signed Captain America trading card from Steve. Or they could do anything, really. Just something.

moving supergirl to the cw with the rest of the dc shows is probably a good move. most likely still wont watch it as the whole girl power thing really turned me off. would have been fine if it was just this girl who had powers, but they had to make it the basis of the show. like first episode she's getting her ass beat, the general guy says she cant win, her sister says "why? cause she's a girl?". like no bitch, its cause she's getting her ass kicked up and down the street.

I've never watched it but I will now that its on the CW because they're usually pretty good about putting their stuff on Netflix and Hulu. I went to start watching it about halfway through the season but CBS doesn't put their stuff on Hulu and I'm not holding my breath for netflix. They'd rather me pay for their own streaming service, which doesn't even have all the episodes on it.

The easiest way to answer is that DC will always rock at TV because they know how to play within the boundaries of regulation and Marvel/Disney will always do better on Netflix because of LACK of regulation on that format. DC also doesn't give a rats ass about larger universe continuity.

Weird I was under the impression that The Flash was actually doing well and keeping a nice steady pace. From looking at ratings info its doing better than Arrow and Agents of Shield. Also it looks like Supergirl didn't do too bad in it's first season as well. Kind of curious if they just meant as an average. Hmm....

Yeah the Flash and Arrow are doing fine, they both have much more viewers than CW's other show Supernatural and they've kept that going for 11 seasons so i think Flash and Arrow will be fine for the foreseeable future.

It is, for the CW. It's the most successful show there and pretty far ahead of the second place show.

In fact, all of the CW's superhero shows are the top rated shows on the CW.

A few years ago I said "Marvel owns it at movies, DC owns it at tv" but that was because we only had SHEILD and Arrow on Tv. Back when Arrow was good at least. The DC shows are all over the place now, but DareDevil and Jessica Jones are just spectacular! So Marvel just kind of rocks at everything now.

However Marvel's best shows are on Netflix, completely isolating them from people without a Netflix account (yes, we do exist). As a result, having a show on tv makes it a bit more accessible.

    • Welsh_Pirate

      @Darkcloud111

It's the fact that they are on Netflix is what allows them to be so much better than the standard network schlock. Less censorship issues inhibiting creativity, and a bit more budget to pay for better writers, actors, and directors.

@Darkcloud111 were as I'm the opposite since my family is pretty dirt poor we could never afford television but netflix is at just the right price. Plus @Welsh_Pirate has it right on with Netflix allowing more freedom on the kind of content people are allowed to make leading to better quality shows.

@Davidov64 o.0 How can you not afford television? Television is free. Unless you want cable or something. But the superhero shows on TV are on regular broadcast networks.

@Golladan My house just doesn't get any channels, and if you want even basic cable it's like $35 which they try to add on crappy internet with for an extra amount. We just got fiber and decided we'd use internet for stuff like Netflix to watch shows.

Don't mess with Marvel... because Marvel is owned by Disney. You don't f*** with Disney. They own everything. Seriously, Google "assets owned by Disney".

Also, despite their MCU, there policy is to connect the TV shows to the movies, but not the other way around. For DC, they just crossover Flash into whatever show is flailing to get a ratings boost. Although I'm going to watch DC's Powerless when it debuts on NBC because it stars Vanessa Hudgens and that's the only reason I need to watch it LoL
