Game News: EA's Declares New Rules for YouTubers

EA's coming to lay down the law for people who stream or do Let's Plays in their games on YouTube and Twitch. Specifically, they want content creators to be more transparent when they're doing sponsored content, or when they get games free.

EA pushing for more transparency in their advertising and promotional content.

So EA is good, Bethesda is evil, Donald Trump is POTUS, can 2016 get any stranger?

Will this affect AH/FH videos? Normally their videos start if it's sponsored with a preamble. Does this mean their videos now require the watermark?

I think the watermark was just required at the start? Although I did get confused as to whether it was a real watermark or a hashtag which would presumably be in the description.  I guess have the hashtag means it more easily searchable 'sponsored by EA' might be something people want to search for ... or exclude ... from a search.

According to the article, they can use the watermark or first mention in the video about the support or advertisement.

It'll have rather little impact I think, they always seem to have been very upfront about their involvement with a company when doing videos - and they'd probably let slip in the umpteen podcasts if they did try to hide it anyway! :D

    Doesn't sound like anything bad.

    Sounds like what should happen.

Weird that it is coming from EA.

I'm believer in the CONCEPT that EA is being helpful to the consumer, but in general I still hate them for everything they've done to the industry thus far... If I was an influencer, I'd gladly say "this giant turd of a game is sponsored by EA. Thanks for the free game, too bad it still sucks..."

... EA doing something that is... pro-consumer? Even though it still benefits them to do so... kudos EA.
