Fake Hackers Get $100K

Tech and Science News: Fake Hackers Get $100K

Want to get rich? Just fake a DDoS attack! It made one group of cybercriminals a stupid amount of money. They'll also probably end up in jail, but at least they got money for not doing anything.

Some of this extortion is just a form of Phishing. Phishing relies on the stupidity of the recipient. I have no sympathy for them.

As for the DDoS, I'll echo the opinion of a poster supposedly from the hacking group Anonymous. The person claimed that DDoS has about as much finesse as stopping up a toilet with one's own head. I think that I can agree with the sentiment given the simple, brute mechanics behind DDoS. It works, though, cranial blockage or not, but a childish measure regardless.

Maybe half the episodes have sponsors, it seems, but it varies. This is the time of year that Sherri's Berries and Proflowers dole out a ton of sponsorships for RT content bc of Mother's Day. Off Topic, RT Podcast, The Know, and probably many others over the next 1.5 weeks.
