Tech and Science News: Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is a DEATH TRAP (please stop using it)

In case you haven't got the memo, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is exploding and if you need to have one you need to turn it off right now and not use it again. Man, and last week we were upset about the iPhone 7's headphone jack... just wait until they add explosions to the iPhone 8!

I own a Galaxy Note 5. When the Note 7 was announced, I was planning to upgrade ASAP! I am currently on a plan that requires me to pay off half of my current phone's amount before I turn it in for the newest smartphone (which in this case would include the Note 7). FORTUNATELY, I still owed enough on my Note 5 that this policy did not apply to me. Now, hearing the recent news on the phone spontaneously combusting during charging and normal use, I will NOT be upgrading for QUITE some time, if ever... I don't know which phone I will upgrade to in the future, as I have found no current issues with the Note 5. Hopefully Samsung can resolve this issue quickly, as well as take more time in the future to test out the models before release!

When I've read about the Note 7's exploding, the common theme always seems to be people leaving the phone plugged in for a long time in a place where the phone starts to heat up.  I recently bought one and want to just exchange it for a new one when it becomes available in a week or so, but now I only will plug the phone in for about 30 minutes at a time and leave it in another room (far away from me and anything important).  I don't plug it into my car when I'm driving anymore for obvious reasons.  I should have just kept my good old windows phone.

Even after this recent explosion in the Samsung market. I still will purchase a new Samsung over iPhone. When Tesla released their Model S and it had national news of catching fire, it didn't make we want to go out and buy a Civic.

I'm trying not to be a fanboy, but I still have faith in Samsung phones. Bad batteries happen It's happened to apple before as well. This sucks, but i'm still looking at the note 7 for my next phone.

From the the CPSC statment "CPSC and Samsung are working cooperatively to formally announce an official recall of the devices, as soon as possible."

This is why Samsung just went ahead and started recalling the phones, because they wanted them off the market now and CPSC isn't providing any aditional visbility for the recall.

That poor kid. People won't remember this in 2 months, let alone years from now when he has to explain "I don't like phones. One exploded on me when I was little."

So all you need to do to blow up a plane is watch videos on a phone. Happy belated 9/11, guys.

Apple customers can still switch to Android with the Galaxy S7. That's what's great about companies making multiple phones.

What do you think happens when companies take the lowest bidder to make components for their products.

If my phone's battery gets too hot, my phone shuts off brutally -- saving the phone as well as apparently me and anyone around me but possibly messing up data being accessed at the time. (So far, only a song has been lost [and re-downloaded] from a heat-triggered shutoff.)

I'd they still want to use their note 7, let them.  However something happens and they burn down their car or house, it on them.
