This pretty much sums up my time on goat simulator.

Burnie's so right about the internet pitchfork mobbing after families— what the fuck even is that? I will never understand why someone takes something to that level.

I've said many times that I agree with Gus's views on VR and that it's going to be just another gimmick. I think that the FB purchase of Oculus will hurt the Oculus Rift, but I do think it still has the ability to make a very large amount of money. I just don't think that VR will be the future of gaming. It'll be a craze that everyone will talk about, but eventually it'll be the next Rock Band and 3D TV. I've played a lot of immersive games but I always have to look somewhere else in real life. I'm not going to want to take off a screen if I want some water or need to answer a text. Shutting yourself from the outside world just seems too far for me. Soon the media (that's already against video games) will be blaming VR for injuries, violence, and other crimes. What happens if an armed robber enters a house where someone is basically wearing a huge TV and wearing sound-eliminating headphones? The media will try to ruin the game industry's name as they always do. Overall, I think there's just too many problems and it's too gimmicky. I'm with Ryan in terms of interest dealing with the technology, but I don't see it becoming the entire future of gaming. Gaming has found success with a normal screen and a controller/K&M and I think that's where the success will lie for a long time.

Also I want to take back my comments on another Patch video dealing with Project Spark. My brother was messing around with it and was much more successful than I was! But my main point is that while he was playing, he found a sword in the items menu that was not behind a payment wall. I'm not sure if it was added or if I somehow missed it under the list of weapons, but it is there. While I still think that the game should be a $10 digital game that has everything unlocked, I'm also excited to see what people make.

Lastly, I've always noticed where Burnie's beard ends and I'm liking the new line! That's one awesome beard.

I was one of those people who was excited for the Rift when it was first announced, didn't back it due to being a poor college kid, but I was still hyped for it. As soon as I heard Facebook bought it I lost all my interest and started looking at the Project Morpheus from Sony. Since then I have cooled my head a little and am looking carefully at the Rift now, waiting to see if the FB acquisition makes it more than a gaming platform since that would help it out by bringing in a bigger market and help flesh the VR tech out. Still don't like that they sold out to Facebook of all companies though.

Yeah, I can see people (myself included) being driven away by a Facebook VR Snapchat Rift. I really hope Facebook lets Oculus be Oculus and we get a better product sooner because of the acquisition.

If FB just lets the Rift guys do their own thing then it will be for the best, more money could mean a better product sooner.
If however FB tries to control things a limit what people can do, then it could be a sad end to a cool dream.
I am still exited for the Rift but now its wait and see.

Burnie was right - "Disclaimer: Goat Simulator is a completely stupid game and, to be honest, you should probably spend your money on something else, such as a hula hoop, a pile of bricks, or maybe pool your money together with your friends and buy a real goat."

I think the issue Ryan has, and it makes sense, is that facebook is good with these mobile games, but Oculus is very far from that, and the customer base couldn't be more different. The biggest percent of people who play facebook games (woman between 10-40) will not be buying, or using this. The customer base is gamers, and they're the ones who have the issue with Facebook.

Phew, thank godness I'm over 40, which means I'm outta that bracket .....

I was a lot more interested in Oculusbefore the FB announcement , still am to a degree, but if Oculus gets punched down my throat Facebook style then my dwindling interest will dissapear fast .... like it already has with Facebook - I only keep mine active to maintain contact with 'Alternative' small businesses - long gone are the days of reading online arguments and being presented with duck-face selfies.

I'm all for good financial backing, but I have this fear that Oculus will end up being a short lived gimmick, like a sound activated dancing flower!

Pretty good episode. Rockstar has 10 studios, so that's 120 people per studio, which isn't absurd by any stretch of the imagination. Also, CoD probably has that many people when that game is in the final stretch.

Also, Oculus just got another Valve developer to leave Valve and join them (gamasutra.com/view/news/214392/Oculus_swipes_yet_another_VR_expert_from_Valve.php). I think the RT people are really blowing out of proportion the whole Facebook thing. Developers don't have the level of hatred towards Facebook as they seem to think. Otherwise, this wouldn't have just happened: gamasutra.com/view/news/214674/3D_video_startup_raises_millions_to_make_movies_for_Oculus_Rift.php

RE: Heists taking forever to come out... I'd imagine part of it might be down to them trying to manage the in game economy - people want to do heists to get the big money, which works in the single player but the online is set up entirely differently. Never mind the other logistics for putting them in the game, economy impacts of that sort of update is a headache in itself.

Guys, I'm surprised y'all forgot about Max Payne 3. That was made by Rockstar and came out in 2012.

I loved Max Payne 3, too. And I guess it would make sense with so many great games that some of them might blend together.

I played that game and loved it and I actually forgot about that too! I was just listening to old podcasts and one was right after L.A. Noir came out and it was odd to see Gus so excited about the game and then forget about it in what was 20 minutes for me. It makes you realize how fast things move in the gaming industry where there's so much quality content produced in such a short time that provide tons of hours of entertainment each.
