Just to clarify on the EA Access program, while it could be different, the early access could be similar to what they did with EA's Season Pass they did for Sports games.

If you did EA Sports Season Ticket, you got early access to the FULL game for 3 days before the game came out. This was the entire game, not demo, and your progress in the game (such as dynasty mode progress) could be kept and transferred over to the game if you bought it. You also got the achievements unlocked as soon as you transferred your data to the full game.

So by limited, I think you would get the full game for those days but you wouldn't get the achievements unless you had the actual final product. Demos would still be limited.

    But who knows, it's EA.

IMO, the trailers for Guardians of the Galaxy looked just as cheesy as the trailers for the Avengers. And I enjoyed seeing both movies, so I'm not sure why Ashley is against one and not the other, but to each their own.

Also, it's funny to hear how they define Beta because it's not how any game developer defines it at all. In short, Early Access can be at any point in game's development for any length of time where the developers are looking for the public's response to anything and everything. Beta is a very definite build that comes at a certain, specific point in a game's development, usually when a game is art and content complete and the developer is now bug fixing and polishing as they move towards Cert (certification) and Gold (release) submissions. There are also modifiers for a Beta build like closed versus open and public versus private, but a Beta is usually for a limited time where the developer is looking for certain things (like stress testing their servers). Also a game in Beta will definitely go to Gold whereas an Early Access game might not.

I have to disagree with Burnie. The Halo 4 Terminals were a disgusting bastardization of Halo Canon

Burnie/Ryan ask sony/naughty dog HD remakes, and Jak and Dexter HD remake trilogy (created by naughty dog at the very least). They've also re-released Ratchet and Clank HD and Kingdom Hearts in HD also. It's not fair to only complain about Nintendo remaking games when Sony also does it (Then also Halo CE anniversary/halo 2 anniversary collection are technically HD remakes also). All the companies remake popular games for varying reasons.

I kind of agree with Destiny looking "eh". From the Let's Play the AH guys did, it looks like an RPG with just another FPS mashed in. I was all excited about it, but after watching it doesn't look like something I would bother to pay for.

Last of us Remastered seems like a massive waste of time, updating the graphics will not save that train wreak of a story or the piss poor gameplay.

Ashley... graphics .... really.... poor excuse of a gamer. Burnie, you can do WAY better.

Burnie's not wrong about the flak cannons, there was a ton of discussion in the AE Beta about how strong they should be. They used be even more powerful before they dialed them back.

It will be interesting to see how this holiday season will shape for Nintendo in general, since they have announced a lot of actual big name games and IPs that people really know and love (Smash, Hyrule Warriors, etc) as well as some fun new sorts of things like Splatoon. I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out for the company.

I would agree with Burnie though - I wouldn't mind having a subscription base for Nintendo titles, rather than the others mentioned, just for replay value of things that I loved as a child in a catalog sense.

Ryan, it's not just Nintendo that rehash, remake, and re-release old games. You asked if Sony or Microsoft did this. They have. To name a few: Fable Anniversary, The God of War HD collection, The HD Sly Collection, The Ratchet and Clank HD Collection, Halo Anniversary, The Jak HD Collection, The Master Chief Collection, The Team ICO HD Collection. In addition, every developer and publisher under the sun has done this. Square Enix with countless Final Fantasy remakes and sequels in addition to the Tomb Raider HD collection and the "Definitive Edition" of the latest entry. Ubisoft has done this as well with The Splinter Cell HD collection. Konami has also done the same with the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection that has been released what feels like five separate times now. Namco does this with the Tales of series as we saw with Tales of Symphonia. LucasArts did this with Monkey Island HD. I could go on but you see my point.

You argue that Nintendo in your eyes is nothing but rehashes and re-releases of old games while refusing to recognize that other companies do this. We both do agree that re-releasing these games isn't a bad model as it is easy money in addition to introducing new generations to their franchises. But keep in mind, Nintendo easily has the most recognized gaming franchises in the gaming industry and they'd be daft to not capitalize on this. And as you can see from my examples above, other companies have recognized this and started doing the same.

I have nothing but respect for you, as I tend to agree with what you say on the patch a vast majority of the time. However, I would advise we take a look at the industry as a whole without a filter to see that Nintendo is not the only company that does this.

(P.S. Nintendo's new IPs consist of Xenoblade Chronicles released in NA in 2012 and has a new entry for WiiU releasing next year, Splatoon, The Pushmo Series, Bravely Default, and the Dillon western series.)

I actually agree with you JackovAces. I mean I would never call myself a Nintendo "fanboy" as I play my PlayStation the most, followed by PC and Xbox, however, I do respect Nintendo a lot as a company and what they have done to change the gaming landscape throughout the years (for better or worse). But back to what you said.

I do agree with you. Absolutely! Nintendo does re-release games more often than any other company. In addition, their lack of a Cross-buy solution -much like the ones we see on PlayStation, iOS, and Android devices- is downright appalling. So I as well do not think Ryan is entirely wrong. It's just the comment about re-releases being 90% of their sales is pushing it.
He seemed to be annoyed that they have their established franchises such as Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Zelda, New Super Mario Bros, etc.. and consistently only put out new entries in these franchises. To that I would have said, "what about Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, Halo, Battlefield, etc... that have releases every 1-2 years? Are they not doing the same?" Nintendo has stated on many an occasion they only release one new Mario Kart per console, one New Super Mario Bros. per console, one to two new Zelda games per console. Anyhow, I feel as though Nintendo just gets a bad rap for doing what their consumers want. People like me. I buy Nintendo solely for the fact I will be getting a new Mario, a new Zelda, A new Metroid. Well maybe that last one is questionable, but you see my point.

Like with all goods and services the consumer votes with their dollars. So as long as fans keep buying Kirby Superstar every time Nintendo puts it out, Nintendo will keep releasing it because it makes them money.

I'm a Nintendo fan boy too but I do feel that Ryan has a very valid point in that Nintendo re-releases games much more frequently than other companies. For example, Kirby Super Star has seen a total of at least 5 different releases: as the original on SNES, as the Ultra version on DS, on the Wii virtual console, on the WiiU virtual console, and as part of the Kirby Dream Collection for Wii. Also, with the exception of Ultra, they are all the exact same game without any added features or graphical updates.

Not that I'm complaining. Kirby Super Star is my favorite game of all time and I do love that Nintendo is always trying to reintroduce old games to new players. I just wanted to point out that Ryan is not exactly wrong in saying that Nintendo makes a lot of money selling from their back-catalog of games.

I've been playing Origins over and over the past month or so and I'm the same way. I've got a kind of tank-ish playstyle and playing the mage was murder for me, even though I classed as an arcane warrior which let me wear armor. My party got wiped out several times and the only one who made it usually was my dog, especially fighting one of the dragon fights. I'm best at running in and beating the shit out of things. In the end, I had 2 or 3 OP spells that I used constantly.

At about 30 mins in, they talk about how weird it is to see and hear characters' voices coming from their actors' mouths... I felt the same the first time I saw Burnie, Gus, and Geoff talking in "Church, Simmons and Grif's" voices.
