Start working at home with Google! It's by-far the best job I've had. Last Wednesday I got a brand new BMW since getting a check for $6474 this - 4 weeks past. I began this 8-months ago and immediately was bringing home at least $77 per hour. I work through this link, go to tech tab for work detail

Curious, everyone complained about how quiet this episode was but this is the first time I haven't had to turn my speakers down and also the first time that the themetune didn't caused distortions in said speakers - I approve :)

    Re: Civ V
I played a game of this incarnation of Civ when it had a free weekend on Steam before Beyond Earth came out and I played as Ghandi so I definitely wouldn't face him but, like you said, the AI is crazy - I was basically forced to kill off everyone - I was going for a none domination victory (any of them given how far ahead of everyone I was) - I had twice the tech and was ages ahead of most of the AI players with by far the biggest cities but they wouldn't stop attacking me - suicidally... even city states - the only option was to put them down (which got me despised by everyone else - even above people they were fighting wars with which they would stop and fight me!!)
Basically, oh bitter irony, they forced me to act how Ghandi acts in the game - not that I go to nukes... I had them all blitzed before I got to them - machine guns, tanks and planes work rather well against pikemen... (yes, I wasn't kidding about them being suicidal).

P.S. I didn't bother buying Civ V because of this... I want to be able to diplomatically or technologically dominate the world - killing just doesn't do it for me :/

I came here to watch because I'm a sponsor and don't see ads...but an ad played before the video. Why has this happened? I thought that part of being a sponsor was ad-free content. Please correct this.

So The Patch doesn't think much of my Alienware Alpha. I like it. I just wish I was better at GTA IV. I have a hard time driving and shooting. And I like my Alpha.

    Okay, couple of things:

Binocular = Binary Ocular. Bi comes from Binary. Thats why the extra N.

MSX = Was Microsoft's first console. the Microsoft X or MSX. Thats where the name Xbox came from.

Freaking ads for sponsors. Wtf. This has been a problem for months, and there has apparently been zero attempt to fix it, or even address the audience to let us know that RT knows and/or cares about the issue. I originally got a sponsorship to support RT directly. Now that they are no longer an independent company, just a smaller part of a huge corporation, that reason is completely pointless. Now sponsorship is really just paying for benefits like no ads. Every time I get hit with an ad I shouldn't have to sit through, I seriously regret having gotten a several year sponsorship. Why pay for benefits you're not going to consistently get anyway?

I appreciate your very well-written response, and I certainly cannot fault you for being a concerned fan. I would like to add, though, that RT would probably be alot more receptive of your criticism if you didn't make it sound like you were also accusing them of bad character as well, even if that wasn't your intention.

At the end of the day, though, it's just a 10-30 second ad, and they've slipped through sponsorships long before Fullscreen ever came around. While it's still worth pointing out, it's also not worth raging that much over either. smiley8.gif

I didn't say they don't value fan support, merely that it is not their top focus or priority. Burnie has repeatedly said they want to grow their audience, and work on larger productions. That's not speculation or me implying something out of the blue. And whether they are callous or not is yet to be seen (although I would argue that refusing to fix or even address a problem that has been going on for months, especially one that directly affects people who are giving monetary support to the company, counts as evidence that they are heading in that direction), but it's kind of hard to argue that they are not a corporate entity. It is not 'misplaced' to see them as a corporation, and if I don't like corporations, then that's on me. But fans are going to observe and draw conclusions about RT's actions no matter what, and if RT chooses not to address those concerns, then that says something about the leadership as much as the actions themselves did. I am not implying anything: I am flat out saying they have done things that I find questionable and distasteful. If you do not find those things distasteful, then that's fine, but it does not invalidate my concern about the directions they're going in.

In the end, whether I like RT's actions has no bearing on whether you should like RT's actions, and vice versa. But I believe it's important to be critical and honest towards the people and things you are a fan of, and that it's worth expressing those criticisms and concerns. I'm not in the YouTube comment section advocating for people to be fired or spewing random hatred. I'm on the RT website, expressing my frustration about a particular issue, and mentioning that at least one fan (although I would be surprised to find I am truly the only one) regrets that RT is going in the direction it is. RT is going to do whatever their leadership wants them to do. But I believe that if said leadership is at all interested in fan support, then they should be happy to see honest comments, as it's pretty much the only way to see what their fans are thinking. And while coherent criticisms are rare, comments expressing concerns and frustrations are just as valid, important and worth leaving as the comments that encourage and support good videos.

      Edit: correcting misuse of punctuation.

OK, I can tell this goes beyond simply being annoyed by an occasional ad. If you feel your sponsorship isn't worth your money, that's your choice since it's your money after all. And you're also free to have an opinion regarding their sponsor content. That's fine. But please don't use this as reason to imply that RT are now some callous corporate entity more interested in views than fan support. It is totally misplaced.

I think they made it pretty clear when they sold the company that the support of long time fans is not as important as money from a corporate "business partner." They want to make larger stuff, and more stuff, and that's their prerogative, but it means their focus is constantly on growth, and on getting as many views as possible and expanding the audience. If that means making decisions that upset or disregard long time fans (or that may be good for the 'company' but are potentially negative or not in the best interest of a single employee), that's fine, because a thousand or ten thousand more views is worth more to them than a long time fan buying a sponsorship. It's a smaller scale version of the wal-mart effect: it doesn't matter if you do things that cause you to lose a hundred fans, because there will always be 200 fans to step up in their place.

I still like many of the RT employees, and enjoy and watch most of their content. But I prefer my money to go directly towards a company I like, rather than some portion of it constantly being passed on to a larger, faceless corporation that I have zero regard for. I'm also not a fan of the "freemium" model. If they make most of their money off of ads or merchandise, then it just comes across as a money grab to charge for some content that is only slightly different than everything else they put out. As I don't actually like many of the 'sponsor only' content they produce, the real appeal of the sponsorship to me was no ads, and knowing that I was providing a small but consistent and unvarying cash flow to a small (ish) company that I really liked. If that consistent cash flow is now mostly irrelevant, as they now have a large corporate backer to cover for variances in views, or lulls in merchandise sales, then the majority of the reasons I originally got a sponsorship are now gone.

So yes, I regret getting a long-term sponsorship. I will support RT with my views, because we both get something out of that transaction: I get cool content to watch, they get views. But a sponsorship that I know is irrelevant to them other than a little bit more profit they can pass along to a larger corporation no longer has intrinsic value to me other than the concrete benefits it grants. Which in the case of no ads, I cannot actually count on.

Sorry. That got rant-ier than I intended, but it's been something that's been on my mind since they made their announcement.

I can understand and agree with your grievance, but I still don't think it should be enough to make you regret getting a sponsorship. After all, you're still supporting RT regardless of whether they're owned by a larger company.

I've been getting ads on and off for months now. It seems to be on a lot of older podcasts, but I got one for this one too. My main reason for sponsorship was to get rid of the ads, but yeah. I even considered turning Adblock on for this site but it doesn't work. It's frustrating.

Hopefully whenever they launch the new site, the ad problem goes away.

    "Everybody hates Raiden."

Not true at all. I actually really like Raiden. He was a good alternative to Snake, and eventually he proved to be a badass in his own right. I even got to meet Quinton Flynn in person at a con and he was a pretty cool guy, too.

Also, Metal Gear Rising certainly does not deserve to be written off that easily. It may not have been a traditional Metal Gear title, but it certainly was not a horrible game in the least bit.
