Next week you should briefly talk about what's going to happen when Sony and Microsoft stop supporting the last gen consoles. When you think this will happen and how you think it will affect the consoles and the whole Playstation Plus/Games With Gold thing.

A lot of people are talking about how the content is the same, so you shouldn't care what the thumbnail or title is. And yes I still think that the content is great and you're going to stop watching it don't let the new thumbnails be the reason you do so. But just telling every person who doesn't like it is perhaps the most inefficient and impossible way to go about getting people to stay. The thumbnail and title are the front end of a video, the part that gets needs consideration before the user even clicks their mouse. And if new potential viewers can't differentiate RT's videos with others in the "related videos" section on youtube, or disgruntled fans ignore it by principle or because they didn't recognize it, then you'll have one hell of a time convincing me that the potential for more views is worth the lost ones. Content should not even come into the argument.

Note: This is not a response to any one post in the comments. I just saw people talking about it and thought to put in my own two cents.

My guess is that the new thumbnails are a contribution of the Funhaus group. While it's certainly a different aesthetic, and I'm personally not a fan, it seems more like an attempt to bring the skills and mentality of Inside Gaming to RT than just an abandonment of professionalism. I hope they stop doing it soon, but I'm glad they're trying new things. And some of their new work is really funny, like the Fallout 4 story done for The Know with the list of "sequels."

On the note of panel members, it would be wise to remember that half of the team that does The Patch never worked in the game industry. If I recall correctly, Ashley and Meg worked in PR and gaming media before joining RT. Ryan only has some education on game development and animation (among other temporary majors), and Gus is simply into games and tech, and they're both vital contributors. Never confuse your distaste for someone as incompetence. It's almost as dangerous as assuming that someone you like knows what they're talking about.

TL;DR: The thumbnails are ugly, but they bought Inside Gaming for a reason and trying new things is better than becoming boring. Also, a squeaky voice doesn't mean someone is uninformed.

Thumbnails like this and even the one for the newest RT Podcast honestly scream unprofessionalism (at least to me). They are ugly, unnecessary, and give me almost no useful information about the content that I want to watch. On a lighter note, this Patch made me want the new 3ds more than ever. I haven't upgraded since my ds lite, and I really need a new Pokemon game! Plus, it seems like they fixed the only issue that I had with the 3ds with the face tracking feature!

Yeah i pre-ordered the Majora's Mask 3DS handheld for my sister for her birthday and got an email stating all was good and my order had been confirmed. Then about a week or 2 before the release I got a new email saying sorry but your pre-order has been cancelled but oh here is a $50 code for the inconvenience. Like yeah no big deal Best Buy, I just look like a huge jerk to my youngest sister after telling her I got her something cool for her birthday.
On the note in general of pre-orders I'm just done with them. I'd rather wait now and make sure a game is actually going to work after dealing with issues with Destiny, Halo: MCC and Battlefield 4.

This may go un read and if so that's fine, I hope it just reaches someone. I started watching rooster teeth 2 years ago on a daily basis, and I loved everything about them. Who they were, what they produced and just their presence. They always have been the company who would post videos, for people to enjoy. They never once begged for subscribers, ask for a video like, or create things to lure you into clicking Play. They knew their product was good and just let the product do the talking. This was the rooster teeth I came to like. But since the buy out from full screen this has all changed. It took a bit too be evident but it has. I like the funhaus add on and I realize full screen was a big part of making that possible. But you guys are going away from who you were, and what brought this whole community together. I hate to see you go away from what works for you. Yes the baiting thumbnails, and like this video works for some but it is not what you guys had to do to become the great company you are. That is my soapbox and this probably won't reach anyone but I said something.

On youtube, when looking for the Patch, I completely skipped over the video, twice, while looking at thumbnails. Same thing happened earlier when looking for Fails of the Weak, because it looks exactly the same as the normal fails thumbnails now, and equally clickbaity.

World of Tanks just had it's one year anniversary on 360 last week or the week before. Since release they've been steadily adding new tanks and countries as well as maps, so I hop back in every now and then. Progress carries over to the One and they say it will also support cross platform play (although it will have better textures etc. on the One) which is nice.

I'm curious if Ashley is going to add Homeworld Remastered to their Steam curator list. I haven't really seen much activity on it since they made it, and I think it would be a good way for them to get back into the habit. Plus, if memory serves Ryan never put his recommendations on, which would be really interesting to see.

I went and read that Peter Mol-something interview. It was a brutal read (mostly used to seeing pre-planned fluff pieces designed not to offend, so the interviewers don't get banned from press events), but it doesn't shy away from the fact that he has lied, a lot. Calling him out on it was a good move, I wish more journalists had the stones to do that kind of thing.

I breathe a sigh of relief every time Meg isn't on, she's so loud and squeaky. The cast right now is the best case scenario, these 3 are actually aware of the gaming industry on a professional level.

In regards to yawning, scientists at first thought it was because of empathy. But now new reports and tests are showing conflicting answers. At this point, more research will be needed before a definitive answer is given.

While the actual content has more or less remained the same, the way you guys are changing up the how the content of The Know is initially presented to viewers (The video thumbnails, the titles, etc.) is getting rather grating. The flashy picture of Ryan and Gus with the "NEW 3DS WHA??!" text is not what I've come to expect from The Know and Rooster Teeth in general in terms of presentation quality. This shift is rather jarring and in my opinion unnecessary.

So, to the discussion at the start of the podcast they talked about yawning?

Someone told me yawns are contagious because when we see someone yawn a part of your brain is like "oh crap they're stealing my air I need that to live!" so you yawn to steal it back. I had this conversation when I was on skype with a friend in Australia and we didn't understand how yawns were contagious through computers, but they are.
    Gus was kinda right smiley6.gif

With regards to the persistent argument from gaming sites that they like short games, you are aware that you sort of make a living playing games right? For those of you on the patch: you have to play a lot of games to talk about them on the patch. For AH, you guys play a shit ton of games to make videos out of them. Funhause: you guys are a bit of the Patch and AH. You all feel you have to play if not all then a large portion of the games that come out every year.
I don't think most people actually feel they have to catch up on a backlog of games or play every new release. They pick a few of their favorites and wait for a new game in the series or a new IP to grab them. I don't know anyone on my college campus, from my high school, or just plain friends or acquaintances that buys more than maybe five games a year for their personal use (not including gifts). If they miss a good game, well alright, they've got other fun to have with the stuff they have. I will not buy a new FPS for a few years because I am content with Left 4 Dead and Halos 1-Reach. Those are phenomenal games because you can keep playing them for years at a time. These aren't all that long in campaign length, but multiplayer and replayability also factor in with these titles. Really short single-player only games however, with little to no replay value, are not cost effective because there are much better games to be had for similar prices and much better entertainment. No time is not the sole factor, but it is a factor, and I feel if you just specify average hours of good gameplay then you can make a coherent argument for length of time as a measurement of a game. Not completely accurately, but ballpark it at least.
