Now of course I'm not saying that this is the reason that they're retooling the show or anything but this is just the reason that the patch and The Know in general has kind of gone by the wayside for me. At some point, I just got sick of listening to Ashley and her opinions. Not saying she's a bad person, obviously, and of course she's entitled to her opinions but I'm also entitled to mine and I just can never agree with what she has to say. It just seems like she's so negative all the time and can never find the good in anything, even in the good things. She's turned out like all the other critics who just find reasons to hate something even though the majority of people may think somethings good. So I stopped watching months ago. Sometimes I'd watch if she wasn't on it but other than that I just can't bring myself to watching The Know channel anymore. I'm a little bit surprised since I thought the show was doing well enough but it has become kind of boring so a part of me isn't surprised either. Love Ashley in other things, this is just not one of them.

It's not just Ashley.  I just found the show, overall, to be super negative and that's why I stopped listening to it.  I didn't even realize that it had ended until just today, when I wondered what happened to it.  Ryan, in particular, often talked tons of shit about games that he had never even played.  Gus, surprisingly, was one of the few people on the show who would actually talk about how great games could be instead of how shitting everything is.

Yeah, I quit watching for a bit after Meg left. Just came back today & saw that it was over. I really enjoyed the dynamic when Ashley, Meg, & Ryan were all on there, but it just wasn't as fun after.

The Patch was the first podcast I got into in the Rooster Teeth community two years and a half years ago.  I remember meeting Burnie and Ashley a few months later at Sundance around my birthday and telling Ashley how much I enjoy it.  I always loved listening to this while I was at work to help pass the time and I will really miss The Patch.  Thank you guys so much for the last few years of entertainment and I look forward to any new projects you have in store for us!

I wish that the AC movie hadn't been so much Abstergo. I liked the movie. I thought it was pretty good, but it definetely needed to be shorter, and there needed to be more ancient times stuff. But it was still a good movie. Not the best, but it was just good enogh to be the best video game movie I've seen by a long stretch. The sequel, if there is one, needs to have more ancient times stuff, and focus less on the present times ivolved.

I miss you Patch!  My favorite RT podcast of all <3  Every time I want to get more info on an industry/pastime, I try to find a podcast like the Patch for that subject.  It’s a pretty rare find <3

I listened to the Drunk Tank and RT Podcast for years until I got fed up with them 1) making Gavin puke 2) talking over each other constantly and 3) never talking about video games. The Patch was a breath of fresh air and it was my absolute go to podcast on iTunes. It's what kept me updated on gaming news which was great since I work in that industry.

But now it's gone? And with little fanfare or mention. I can't even find a thread about it in the forums so I'm posting here. This was the last bastion of RT content I was really tied to since AH doesn't actually hunt achievements anymore. Sad day.

I've watched every one from when they didn't know what to name it right up to this one. I feel like it was an abrupt cancellation. Like many, I lost it when it moved to the know, but when I found it again I've watched em all.

In terms of what could be changed, perhaps outside guests, interviews and the like. If Perhaps bring the game club back to the main show as a segment once a month just for more variety in the main show. Maybe bring it back to the main RT site so it gets more publicity.

As others have said, a podcast talking about video games on a nearly exclusively news channel is a bit odd. I agree with the original move that video games need their own forum instead of on the rt podcast, but I wish they'd have said WHY it was being cancelled in less uncertain terms. I hope it comes back and wish everyone the best!

The Patch has always been my go-to series for putting on in the background while I do other things, but it kind of fell off my radar when it was moved to the Know tab. This seems to be the case with many others commenters as well.

Seeing this episode made me realise how much I missed Burnie being a regular cast member though. I really miss the revolving cast of Ashley, Gus, Meg and Ryan (which is obviously no longer possible) but Burnie has the strong on-screen presence that I think the Patch has been lacking lately. As for the less frequent cast members, I was fine with Jeremy but I wasn't a fan of Adam, as I found his argumentative approach quite grating.

Overall I really don't think there is much that needs to be changed about the Patch for me, other than a more consistent cast and maybe moving it back to the main site. If the issue from RT's end is viewer numbers, I would say moving it off the Know channel would pretty much solve that problem. Here's hoping the Patch comes back bigger and better than ever before!

I think having The Patch on The Know channel was bad.  I did enjoy watching this podcast but I always missed it in between all the news from the channel.  Maybe just me.  They also keep saying the last version of this show? So maybe they will change it and keep it going somewhere!

It's a shame the Patch is going it was a decent podcast. I think it was dealt a bad hand being part of the know because a podcast isn't news on a news channel.

Honestly, the only reason I go to the know is to watch the patch and it means I have to remember to watch the patch unlike say off topic or dude soup which I'd see as i'm browsing AH or Funhaus.

Either way, I feel it's being canceled cause it doesn't get viewers in and it being in a place where it's unlikely to get more viewers because of the content type. I hope they bring it back and put it on the Rooster Teeth channel.

Anyway, Thanx for the 188 episodes ^^

I liked hearing your thoughts on the weekly gaming news and currant games that had been released. The only thing that you needed to address, was to make sure you didn't go off "game" topic too much and this only really seemed to happen more often when Gus wasn’t on the show lol.

If you do decide to bring The Patch back (I hope you do), I would really like to see at least two of the three sitting there to be the same of a rotating cast (Ashley, Ryan, Gus) with a third member occasionally being a guest (but not always). It would make the podcast stronger to have the same people doing the discussion and I've always enjoyed the podcasts that have Ashley, Ryan, and Gus in them.

The Patch was the reason I became  First member and the only podcast I watch/listen to from RT.

I think that this format of having the regular hosts works well (Ashely, Gus, Ryan, and Adam if he's up for it), but I think it would be better if you try to get guests from the video game community, like online gaming personalities from YouTube or games critics/commentators. And of course, you can use people from Rooster Teeth if that's easier.

I think that this show could be improved if it were more organized. Divide the show into segments: one segment talks about games you've played (sort of like the Patch Game Club), and the other section can deal with video game news and topic of interest. And here, with the format of having new guests every podcast, you can discuss games and get different perspectives that you wouldn't be normally getting from within the company.

I did not watch the last episode, but I don't believe this is the end of The Patch because there was no warning and they probably shot it at the last week of 2016 so maybe they mean the last one of the year?

I don't think they'd do that, though. They aren't big on "April Fools" jokes, cause of when RT was founded.
And as I am watching, they have yet to say, "Last one of the Year" they are saying, "The last Patch"

The Patch died when you guys isolated it on its own tab on the site and on the Know channel that gets a fraction of most of RT's other channels. I forgot about it and only came to watch this because someone (Ashley) actually tweeted that it was dead.

So there is that. Won't miss it at all if I'm honest.

It's a shame the Patch is going, even though I don't always keep up with it, nor with The Know in general. As a long time RT fan I figured I would just say a couple of the reasons why I didn't always keep up with it or desire to watch it, if it helps them decide on what to do in the future about it.

Fill-ins. As someone else pointed out, the main cast used to be Ashley, Meg, Gus, and Ryan. Gus travels more, Meg is gone, and Ryan is as far as I know an AH member first, so lately it's been Ashley and grabbing whoever she can. So I think what needs to happen is they get a definitive "cast" Preferably Gus, Ashley, Ryan, and a fourth person. Fill-ins are fine occasionally but it takes someone out of the show a little when they grab someone with a little less personality. I love all of the RT employees, but some are just better at being in front of the camera.

Year of VR. I completely understand it's the new thing in gaming and it could be the future, but personally every time VR got talked about for most of the year I tuned out or skipped ahead in the video. I just got really sick of hearing about it, especially since I have no desire to really get a VR headset anytime soon and neither do a lot of people; at least not yet. Again, especially since there are barely any good games on it. It just got dull for me. But who knows, it might've been interesting to most of the audience.

There's a lot of a focus on indie games, which I have nothing against. For most of the year there isn't some AAA game to talk about. Personally I don't play a whole lot of indie games so a lot of the time I was uninterested.

As a video game podcast, I feel like it would be more entertaining if someone was playing a video game during the discussion and either have a second window in a corner or have a TV behind them to watch as they're discussing.

A new set with some warmer/brighter colors might also be nice.

These are just my personal opinions and preferences and just wanted to give my feedback. I'm sure plenty of people like the Patch the way it is/was.

Yeah when Meg left I stopped watching as often. Only showing up when they talk about a game I've played. I also feel like when FunHaus did exactly as you state (play a game and talk about shit) it stole a bit of their traffic.

  • JamesonK

I'm assuming that based on your hints you're ending The Patch because of poor numbers.  The Patch only has poor numbers because you shackled it to the sunken ship that is The Know.

A channel with 8 times less subscribers than the RT channel.  A channel where even heavily click-baited, sexy thumbnail, 5 minute fluff-piece videos frequently can only eek out 50,000 views.

When The Patch left the RT main channel you were getting 200,000 views an episode.  Now you're lucky to get 60k.

As far as I can tell, to be blunt, the only reason The Know even still exists is because Burnie wants his fiance to have a job at his company.  Because you already chased off the best part of The Know and The Patch, Meg Turney, whose largely neglected private channel is even doing better than The Know.

weather or not the know is a sunken ship or not. the last part is blunt is rude and wrong and you're just being a dick for saying so came your mouth.

Wow, what an unnecessarily cruel thing to say.  Not to mention that it's false.  First off, Meg left on her own accord to follow her coplaying career full time, and was released from her job at RT.  If RT wanted to be dicks, they would have forced her to stay or taken her to court over breach of contract.  I'd hardly call that being "chased off."  Second, Ashley has had a career in gaming long before she was together with Burnie, and I really doubt that she needs his help to get a job.  In fact, I'm pretty sure that she is more qualified and has been in games media for longer than most other employees at RT.  You are free to state your opinion, but there's no need to be a jerk about it.

I agree that delegating The Patch to The Know was a mistake. I'm not subscribed to The Know on Youtube, because I'm not interested in the other content, so despite having once loved The Patch, it's fallen off my radar. I'd still watch it every week if it showed up on my feed, but I don't want everything else that comes with it. And without that reminder, I forget it exists.

But don't talk shit about Ashley. The Patch was great before Meg ever showed up and it was just as great when she left.  I'd be just as happy with Gus, Ashley, Ryan and Burnie as the cast, but RT seems like it's spread so thin right now that keeping those people available is almost impossible.  Losing Meg was far from the killing blow.

With so many podcasts put out by RT nowadays, I feel like The Patch just got swept under the rug. Admittedly, I used to watch it every week but haven't for some time. After seeing this one, however, I actually found myself really liking it. I enjoy having a podcast that's a little more serious with people that inform me about the things that I care about and are reputable sources. I'm hoping that The Patch gets rebranded and comes off as looking like something new and a bit of a departure from the regular, funny RT podcasts, but it's really the same thing they've been doing for years.

I also really enjoyed Game Club. It got me into indie gaming like I never was. Played some really excellent games because of that show.

I will the video game and tech aspect of this show as well as it felt like the most natural since it knew it wasn't the biggest rooster teeth podcast it felt like you guys kept it chill and didn't feel like you had to make it a huge production. It was nice to just chill and eat lunch watching the live show it felt like I was chilling with some friends at lunch talking about video games and tech and what not, and the patch is definitely a place where I learned about a lot of game old and new that I now love and play. Also Ashley better still be in a lot of stuff cause she's one of the best rooster teeth personalities, and Ryan and Gus and the rest but I will actually miss this show. (the news aspect kinda drag it down sometimes I personally hate the scripted aspects of the Know only really watch the patch along with the occasional news title that catches my eye like the one about the snes classic, just figured I'd bring that up).... will miss this and the people and topics it hosted BYE  burnie

X-Com 2 easily the most dissapointing game of the year. Was really excited after playing Enemy WIthin as the first strategy game I'd played for a while, then they made the game so hard towards the end of development it completely puts new players off. Terrible decision and will stop me buying another game the studio makes.
