    I realize this is last week's show, so unlikely they'll see this...but trophies do have point values.

    Bronze = 15

    Silver = 30

    Gold = 90

    Platinum = 180

    (The total score is broken down into levels rather than a raw score, as well.)

    1. There are benefits of getting the Pro even if you don't have a 4K TV. Do some thinking for yourself Gus instead of only listening to Greg Miller. They go on and on about the benefits 1080p displays will get and what 4K displays will get.

    2. 4K is cheap now and future proofed. I should be careful with the word cheap since $1000 to $1500 isn't cheap for a respectable number of people. Still, just buy a Samsung KS9000 and a Pro on cyber Monday.

    Can't wait to watch Ryan play Heavy Rain. JASON.

    Another thing to go with bump mapping and to get excited about it is displacement mapping with the current gen consoles.

    This is a comment about the Ark segment. Most Youtubers and ark players i have seen, or talked to are not upset about this. If you have played a lot of ark and been playing from the start the game can get old (100 to 500 hours of play ablity for $30). It also has a lot of little bugs and problems, which where not game breaking, but could cause some heart ache. I think the new dlc was a way for them to fix a lot of those issues without causing massive updates that could break the saved games players where currently playing. The fact that you have to pay for it seems like a reasonable thing, if the dlc came out day one of full release and had to be paid for using a season pass or bbought on its own, less people would be upset, just because thats "normal". But this is a way for the devs to get the feed back they love, and make sure the game works.

    It also seems like this was truly a planned dlc from the start. Ark has a thing for threes and i am betting there is still another one to come. I dont see where the salt is coming from on this, especailly for the people that dont play. Ark devs have been working there asses off for a year and a half to create a great game, work with gamers and youtubers on issues, and creative ideas, and now dropped a supprise dlc that adds a hug new world with new rules. If your a fan, $50 over a year and a half, is not bad for such a big video game. Put your money down if you want it, and let the devs know you love what they do, or shut up, close your wallets and let them hear you that way. This really seems like bitching about a new thing just cause its new.

    Humanity has gotten to the point where our phones tell us when to stand up, our watches tell us to breathe, and video game designers tell us how to use our hands when not playing video games.

      Except for ryan the pc guy. I recall geoff mentioned how he hated disc install on ps3 on podcast 90 but now xbox one has disc installs and I haven't a clue what his stance on it is now

      Funny how that works. A company that started with a spoof of Xbox's flagship franchise and finding Xbox achievements seems to favor Microsoft the day after Sony makes several counterintuitive business decisions.

    Just so you guys know, 4k actually does make a difference on 1080 displays because of chroma sampling. Most videos you see are 4:2:0 and when the 4k downscales it'll appear as 4:4:4 or 4:2:2. If you don't understand that it's basically saying that instead of sharing chroma data between pixels(all pixels have their own luma data), every pixel has its own chroma data as well, making the image look less compressed. This usually makes 4k on 1080 look way sharper than on a 4k display. Also, as someone who has a 4k display, I've hooked my cinema camera to my monitor and seen uncompressed 4k and it looks almost exactly like 1080, just a little sharper and more noise.

      Even then, the PS4 pro will be a smoother experience regardless of if you can utilize the 4k since it has a better GPU and CPU

    I've been reading on other sites that one of the big issues with the HDR firmware update for ps4 is the fact that the HDMI for the playstation 4 is 1.4 and for anything needing HDR as it currently is it needs 2.0a HMDI port to be able to provide the transfer rate needed for HDR over an HDMI cable. And since Sony is doing a software option for HDR it's likely that it won't be as good HDR done through both Software and Hardware, making there version of it more of a gimmick(not like it already isn't one anyway).
