Suggestion: Try the game Long Live The Queen. It's very well made and easy to get in to, it only takes an hour or two to finish but the thing that makes it stand out is the fact that there are like a dozen endings which gives replayability a massive incentive. I've had it for about a week and I'm still trying to get all the endings.

Game Suggestion: Darkest Dungeon - It's a side-scrolling roguelike dungeon crawler currently in early access on Steam. The best way for me to describe it is a 2D fantasy version of XCOM.

Game suggestion: Sick it to the Man
It is on Steam, 360 and PS3. It's a plat-former on the 2/12 D scale, where you use minor puzzle solving to advance to the next level. The style and humor are great as well as subtle references to other indie video game companies.

Game suggestion, Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1, a fourth wall breaking JRPG with more than one ending and plenty of open lines of play with a total of 18 characters to use and a variety of mechanics which change how characters work together and how the game will end.

It's quiet great. Capitalism ho'! A little girl in debt because of her father who went on a adventure leaving her to run the store with the help of a loan shark fairy.

It really needs more attention, it's on the steam sale right now.

I feel like Gus would enjoy another game about "mundane" tasks.

I actually picked the game up for some easy achievement points but I enjoyed Contrast for what it was. A short and relatively simple platformer with a decent narrative. It wasn't perfect, we know no game is, but at the very least the game doesn't force you beyond a couple of hours of time.
Considering I don't tend to enjoy platformers and indie/arthouse styled games, I still found Contrast pleasant enough despite its shortcomings.

Game Suggestion: Transistor. I know Gus has played it before, but I would be really interested in seeing what the other members think, and hearing the discussion about it.

Game suggestion: Bit.Trip Runner 2. A music-based runner with tons of colourful art and some surprisingly punishing difficulty! I think that'd go over well.

Just a suggestion for your Cylinder of Selection... maybe you can put some plastic pleats/cards upright inside so you can mix up your game suggestions some more? I feel like whenever you spin it the ping pong balls don't actually move at all and just roll in place

Found the best game to piss off Ryan with a romantic visual novel game
Toradora Portable but is only out on the PSP and the only other way to play is to get an emulator and download it that way so good luck.

Since you guys have been talking about escape rooms on the podcast, you guys should try 999 nine people nine doors nine hours (ds), and its sequel zero escape (3ds/vita). They could also be considered visual novels as well.

Throw in Kid Icarus: Uprising. Because it is just so wonky with the controls, but at the same time it is hilarious. smiley12.gif

"Legend of Grimlock 2" reminds me a bit of "Monsters' Den: Book Of Dread" which, although a flash game (and free), is a very good Dungeon RPG style game but very fast flowing of the NetHack variety and even has a story which for a random generated dungeon game is unusual.
There is also "Caravaneer" (again a free flash game) which is rather a good game (though maybe there is less story because it is much more open world), also a bit RPG (set in post-apocolyptic world) with quite an accessible character creator but (as with the Monsters' Den games) don't get too attached to your character until you get a good understand of the game.
Both are a little older but more than hold their own against even more modern games (cheaper ones or free ones) with surprising polish though if you like te latest shiny graphics then don't bother, they don't have them (though, to be fair, they don't need them either).

You guys should put To the Moon in there, if it isn't already! It's a fantastic game, though it is closer to a visual novel than a normal role-playing adventure game, has a beautiful and touching story, and doesn't take too long to get through!

Wonder if they know you could ziptie a piece of cardboard to the inside of the cylinder so it actually mixes the balls up.

It's a longer game, but I recommend Legend of Grimrock 2.

    Old school RPG
    Lots of puzzles
Mapping areas and marking places to return to later
    Exploration
    On the PC
    Indie
    Great character creator
    Genuinely thrilling boss battles
