In less than two weeks, I'll be in Austin, Texas for RTX 2016.
I'm not sure if this fact has really hit me yet.
Last year was my first time at RTX, and really my first time traveling by myself to go on an extended vacation. I was set to stay in a hotel with people I only spoke with online, with only one person I actually met in-person set to be there later in the week. It was a step off a cliff, and I fell deeper into a community I loved. Ignoring the fact that the site change immediately limited my contact with most of these people (sponsor chat), I still cherished all the memories I made and the people I met.
Last year was all about focusing on Press and interviews, as well as meeting people. This year, RTX 2016 will be about reunions. I'm much more confortable with myself, excited to re-connect with those I interviewed last year and hopefully not come off as such a fan girl. But when last year was about the Cast and Crew, this year is about the friends.
I've got a job to do, but every night is already packed with promises to meet up with people I met last year, promising to re-connect and enjoy the city. I'm sure I'll make new friends as well, but this time I feel like I'm returning home to a family, and not a stranger forced to make her path in this large community.
I'll be in Austin, Texas from June 28th - July 5th, and I'm excited to run into everyone. RTX will be packed with work, but outside of that I'll be making stops at 6th street, Gourdoughs, Home Slice, and even spending the Fourth of July down town with the masses.
If you are in town, I hope to catch sight of you during RTX or around town. I'll be dressed in my GlitchFeed gear and Troy by my side, but I'm always open for a hug and hello. Just wait until we are done with any interviews first! I can't wait for RTX, and I'm ready to take on the town! If you are going, I hope you are as excited as I am, and I hope to see you there!
