There are some big changes coming to my life soon so I started looking for a job, which I should have been doing a few months ago. I've applied for some minimum wage jobs, but I'm also considering going for some career-oriented ones. I'm quite shy about that, however. I looked for any Photography gigs or jobs on Craigslist and I'm not too keen on what I've seen so far, but I should start somewhere. The documentary that I'm working on with my client should help get me some exposure though.
There is a part of me that would rather do Freelance work than minimum wage work, but I know how unreliable that is for income. I would at least need something part-time. However, my sister and I will be getting an apartment soon, so I need to get whatever job I can in order to save up for rent.
A pretty big problem, if I am to seek any Video Editing positions, is that I don't have that many videos uploaded to YouTube. I have some vlogs, but not much else. I have been meaning to make videos with my sister, but she has been busy and it's kind of rare when she has some free time to assist in brainstorming or writing a video. I may have to ask a friend of mine who is also a Photographer if he wants to help me out.
I have been improving my Portfolio site a little bit with photos that I took at a few events with my 50mm camera lens, which rocks, by the way. It just forces me to move around, but that's not a bad thing. It is, however, somewhat of a pain in the ass in a crowded convention. I decided to include photos from a time when I did Behind-the-Scenes Photography for a video that some friends made for a little group that my friend created called, Geek Pride. You can view the video here. He even provided me with the Geek Pride watermark to put on them, as well as my watermark.
I do love doing Event Photography, but I wish I could get paid for it. So far, I've been doing it for fun. If I were to apply for a newspaper/website, even a gaming website, I might have to travel quite a bit, though I'm already used to taking the Metro. It just takes a while. I would do another internship, but my bank account has been drained from the last internship that I did as a Video Editor. I would prefer something that pays pretty well.
Really, I'm just hoping my next job won't make me miserable like Subway did. I was so stressed out that I didn't want to do much on my days off. You know how time flies when you're having fun, right? I wanted time to go by as slow as possible because I would dread the next work day. I fucking hated it. I know that there a lot of people who have jobs that they hate. My dad has told me that many times. I couldn't help it. It was kind of affecting my heart rate and my mental health. Ever since I started working there, I haven't gone there for dinner on my days off. I've been going to a different Subway location.
On a more positive note, it would be nice to have income again. I wouldn't mind getting a new camera and a lens that I really want, besides what I have. There is also quite a lot of music that I'd like to buy. Hopefully I'll find something good soon. Wish me luck!
